Stayed with the black boy inn 4/5 times now but usually it is the modern Ty Dre town house... If you book a room book that and not the older black jacks!
We arrived to the rear of the black boy inn, to the hotel... We noticed one bulb had gone in the bathroom closest to the shower and mould had set into the shower metal work, so for us being returning customers was really disappointing.
On this occasion we paid more for less, which was a surprise to us. Being off-peak we have previously paid less for the Ty Dre including breakfast.... On this occasion we paid more for the room and had to pay extra for the breakfast... I will note also the breakfast has had a noticeable downgrade, adding to our disappointment.
It seems the providers ask for more and offer less and I speak from experience, as mentioned this being my 4/5 time visiting as this was my favourite place to visit during my visits to Snowdonia... On many occasions.
I realised there is a premier Inn and travel lodge a very short distance away... I checked and could have saved myself £50/70... I'm a big fan of prem inns but prefer to support smaller local businesses however I feel going forward I'd settle for the very comfortable premier inn...
We park free just outside the entrance in the public car park usually, however we arrived after a day out to find the car park full... Being a guest we asked reception about their car park and mentioned it would be £10 to park there for the night... Which only again added to the disappointment.
The black boy inn pub and pub food, staff and reception were as lovely as always it's just a shame this time around was such a disappointment and we will definitely be considering other options in the future, this may be the last time we visit this hotel based on this recent experience.
