So here goes....I booked golden cross as a nice night getaway for me and my wife for our wedding anniversary. It was a lodge with hot tub on decking. Check in was 4pm and as I’m about to start our journey their I saw I had a missed call from them so I called them back only to hear from the lady on the other end I’m sorry our system has overbooked people. At that point my heart sank and I looked over at my wife thinking oh no. Then she proceeded to tell me that they had another park with lodges that were newly built if we wanted we could stay there and that they were the same quality etc. It was a little further away but hey no problem I don’t want to let my wife down. So we head over there and arrived around 4:45 the caretaker lady came over and let us in and then started to tell us what a bad day she’s had and that our lodge isn’t ready for at least another half hour as it’s still being cleaned. A bit of a set back considering it was officially supposed to be ready at 4pm but hey not wanting to let that spoil the day she said it’ll be another half hour at least and so we decided to pop into local town for a drink. Upon returning approx 45 mins later she informs us sorry it’s still not ready and so we sat in our car until after 6pm until it was ready. My wife already a little peeved said well if it’s 2hours past the check in time can we check out tomorrow a couple hours later? Yes that’s fine she says so hey it’s a little later but it’s no big deal. We go in get unpacked and settle down for a drink and listen to some music. Around 7pm we decide let’s have a dip in hot tub and unwind a bit. I go out and take off cover to find it’s cold. It’s got a temperature at 25 degrees. It says it’s heating but half hour later it’s only increased 1degree. So we call the warden again and she assured us don’t worry it’ll be warm enough in about half hour. An hour later and it’s barely warmed 2degrees and of course none of the contacts are answering their phones. What was meant to be a fun and relaxing night stay has been spoilt and at the premium cost of £235. If I were you I’d avoid and look elsewhere as incompetence has completely ruined our anniversary.

Staying in an “Oakwood” lodge currently on our second night here and all I can say is it’s amazing although the lodges look close together you don’t hear any disturbances and the staff are very friendly and helpful, I’ve seen reviews saying the beds aren’t comfy and I can confirm that it is wrong the beds are amazing I haven’t slept so well in a long time, the only thing which worried me was the hot tub looked like it was not very private but once you’re inside nobody can see you and you cannot see anybody else, I highly recommend staying here! Would love to come back!

Nice quiet place, clean lodges, nice hot tub only small gripe Wi-Fi only good for messaging it didn't allow streaming of any sort 1.9 mbps download speed. You can park car beside the lodge as well secure entry we enjoyed our stay at Golden Cross

the place smells very bad and is not hygienic. avoid. Staff are very threatening and abusive. I had to call the police.
