Westgate Carr Farm

We have just moved on from a glorious 14 day stay at Westgate Carr Farm Caravan site in Pickering. This was a truly memorable, and thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our hosts, Dave and Karen were both unbelievably nice and helpful. The entire site is lovingly cared for, with beautifully manicured grass areas, a nice mix of trees, shrubs and flowers. The facilities were second to none. All of which are still under Covid prevention measures. This is something we are personally, still most conscious about. It is a very peaceful site, has a great scenic dog and person walk around the fields, truly blissful. If you are looking for a peaceful, well presented and beautiful caravan site, with full service pitches and generous pitch sizes, then look no further.

Liked: Spacious pitches, fully serviced. Very peaceful with occasional tractors passing on the lane. No noise at night. Very friendly welcome from owner and everything was clean and tidy. Pleasant walk around farm.
Toilet block was small but very clean. Never experienced a queue.

Disliked: Access lane was a little rough. The single shower required a £1 fee but was not busy as I think many used their own facilities, as we did.

Liked: Site layout was ideal, nice big pitches on a clean tidy extremely well maintained site. A nice close cut grass walk along the riverside on site. Clean and tidy facilities. Friendly hosts welcoming us to our pitch.

Disliked: It wasn't a problem on our stay, but could imagine only 1 shower each for male and female for the number of pitches could become an issue.

Liked: This was a really lovely campsite, it's set out beautifully everyone has a lovely big pitch with their own picnic table. The views are spectacular over the countryside with beautiful sunsets.
Everywhere was spotlessly clean. Nothing was too much trouble.
We will definitely return when we are in the Pickering area.

Disliked: There was nothing to dislike

Liked: The site layout was well thought out with lots of space around the caravan with picnic tables for every pitch. We stayed on pitch 3 which was fully serviced, and all the services were within easy reach of the caravan.
The toilets were kept spotlessly clean. We also liked the fact that the site was adults only.

Disliked: Nothing

Liked: Staff were helpful and friendly. Lovely quiet site that provided the internet. If you want peace and quiet when you have come back from a busy day out that is the place to be. The dog walking field was a pleasant place to just have a walk.
I would definitely make that campsite a stop over if I was visiting that part of Yorkshire again.

Disliked: You have to pay £1.00 for the shower. Which if you have a VW Campervan you do not have a choice. Just make sure you have some pound coins with you.

Liked: Almost everything about Westgate Carr Farm was lovely! Impeccably clean, the owners were friendly and helpful, water on our pitch was so useful, and the free fruit was a lovely touch. The toilets and shower were clean and tidy. The site was beautifully silent, and we could hear the owls at night. There was also free Wi-Fi. The chickens wandering around were really cute, and the cockerel very handsome! It was about a two mile walk into Pickering, where we had a brilliant train ride, and day in Whitby.

Disliked: The only down side is there is only one payable ladies shower (only £1), which gives seven minutes, so only one female can use the shower at any one time. I understand the same applied to the males toilets. There was also a “gender fluid” toilet, but we did not look in there.

Lovely site close to Pickering. Nice clean facilities, immaculate and very quiet. Would 100% return. Our pitch was easy to get access onto, something important for us since we have no motor mover. Other pitches also were similarly accessible and spacious. The dog walking route was best we have ever used.
