It's a few years since I visited a Homebase store. They had a huge selection of items and some of the staff were very helpful. My main problem was the pricing policy. I went in to buy a curtain rod. I only wanted a little one to cover the entrance to a built in wardrobe. I found one marked clearly at £11. The description on the price tag fitted the item underneath. When I got to the checkout is was £22. I put it back on the shelf. I then went to the returns desk to show the photograph and explain that the pricing was misleading. They told me that the price ticket was for the item above it. I went back and couldn't see an item above it! I then decided I'd like a birdtable for my back garden. I found one and was pleased to read it was 'half price'. Again, when I got to the checkout I found out it was the full price marked on the label. The assistant took me back to the shelf and showed me the tiny print on the label saying that the original price was twice the marked one.

Are they being deliberately misleading?!

Good Selection of goods. Good Customers service . Cutting service available. Can be clusters.
Down side. The Gentlemen at till needs more training, 2 pack B.B.Q £6 , or 2 for £10 .Tried to charge for each individual one. Couldn't work out the offer !

Heap after heap of unlabelled junk litters the aisles as you endlessly double back looking for that thing they almost certainly sell if only you could find it whilst you struggle against choking on your own disbelief at the markup they’ve gouged into injection moulded plastic junk aka garden ornaments aka staff being tipped towards the edge as they’re ground to a fine dust in the rusty gears of a lumbering diy shed long outclassed and squeezed of investment by whichever outfit holds the deeds on that day of the week but no matter the time of year you can be guaranteed the large body of unknown origin water will still be swelling in the car park occasionally rippling from some unspoken horror lurking below, bags lump wood charcoal perhaps, or maybe something more sinister if examined with the unexplainable piles of soil in the paint department and infinitely out of order mixing device, a metaphor perhaps for life and the fragility of our existence in the vast unknown cosmos of overpriced lightbulbs?

Today I visited Homebase, St Albans. As I was browsing I clocked furniture I liked and essential items. I went to the till point, where one member of staff was serving, asked if he could help me down with lampshades, tables etc. He tried 3 times to call for help but no one appeared, so I thought this is such poor service I walked away and purchased at another store. Items came to £550, not a bad sale for 10am on a weds morning, I thought. I then tried to call the store Manager to give feedback of my experience, guess what you can't get though to anyone, all busy!! Next call to their H/O, only to have a guy at the end of the line, from India, who just couldn't understand me..........we then wonder why sales are so low.....Homebase get your act together and prioritize. Sales keep your business afloat and pay your wages!!!!

Poor garden centre.... very few plants outside, and not positioned/displayed well. Many shelves and hanging spaces are empty.
Can't fault the staff though. Those that I engaged with were very friendly and helpful. Perhaps it's all linked to sickness and staff absences, or the management just doesn't care. Who knows?

Got some paint mixed and the member of staff did not click the lid down properly. As a result paint leaked everywhere in my car and all onto our drive. When complaining to the store I was told that it's the customers responsibility to make sure products are "transported safely" on leaving the store (even though we had no idea the lid was not secured.)
