Very impressed with the care I received at the hospital. I was shown respect and treated as more than just a statistic.
I was particularly indebted to Salome, the nurse who carried out my pre-operation assessment. She was very thorough and took great care to ensure that I knew what to expect. The literature she gave me was helpful but, in addition, she went through it with me and highlighted the crucial dates and important procedures. Thank you.

Had my pre assessment for Total knee replacement surgery with nurse called Salome. She was absolutely lovely and made me feel very relaxed. She explained what would happen and what I need to do before and after the surgery in detail. An extremely helpful and wonderful person to help you feel at ease.

I have just finished my blood appointment at Shirley and I have always had issues taking blood and my veins are not visible. However the staff I dealt with were nothing short of brilliant. They were caring and attentive and even made me laugh during the appointment. I had 2 wonderful nurses the first I forget her name but she was very warm and friendly and after checking that my veins were very deep she sought out her colleague Wendi to assist. Wendi was absolutely lovely she kept me at ease when she tried to get blood and when she was not able to she got a doctor in to help. The doctor (Lilian also very warm and patient with me :) ) was able to get a small amount before the vein collapsed and then she got a small bit from another and Wendi very thoughtfully was able to write a note that I was hard to bleed so that the labs could accept 2 vials instead of the standard one. I was thankful for Wendi's input and her overall expertise and care. Thank you all.

Super friendly staff. Very thorough and provided clear and concise instructions. Took her time to go through the check list. Really appreciated her recommendation to check potential sleep apnea issues. Felt treated and cared for as an individual with warmth and compassion and not as a number.

As usual, a great service modelled on care and respect. Attended for my ultrasound appointment and was welcomed with a smile by Anna. Consider also that i am blind.
Anna clearly is trained to attend to my needs considering my sight impairment. She sight guided me to the radiology department, described our travel route all the way from their front reception through to the radiology front desk. Melissa who took over was just as helpful, very quickly cottoned on to my Arsenal top and made it a point of discussion helping to put me at ease. Dr Stanton, the radiologist came in, introduced himself and set to work also giving me information all the way. I finished off pleased with the knowledge i had not grown any more kidney stones. Now looking forward to my consultation with Dr Lynch in a few days. And finally thanks to Hanna who escorted me back downstairs from radiology back to the reception desk in perfect time for my taxi’s arrival to return me home and work resumption. Thanks again Shirley Oaks for a fantastic service.

Excellent hospital - had outpatient appointment with Mr Mallina who was exceptionally kind, caring and very informative. The nurses were amazing and very caring. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. I’m due to return for further tests and possible surgery needed. Best private hospital I have attended and patient care is 5 star. Thank you

Shirley Oaks always deliver 5star customer satisfaction. From referral to consultation, Dr Kinmont presented several recommendations in a language for me to quickly comprehend. Following my MRI scan, I was given a surgery date in less than a week, which I postponed due to travel commitments. Last week I finally opted to have the surgery as day case with spacious room with a view upon arrival. A Stellar service end to end with more scope overcome on the day of the op. Now set for a swift recovery and physio follow-ups, I aim to back in action within 4weeks. Thank you to all the staff at Shirley Oaks hospital.

I have spent some time recently going through a process via health insurance which covered me to go to Shirley Oaks.

Firstly my experience with the consultants, I have seen two who were knowledgeable but could have had better customer skills. I was in a lot of pain and the 10 min appointment I had with the consultant was short and I don't feel I was dealt a great deal of empathy, more like another number they wanted to get through the process. This was the case in the multiple consultations I had over the past year.

The physio team I was referred to were brilliant, they were 5 star and I couldn't speak more highly of them.

The accounts team were not great at all. Only one month after my treatment, they got very pushy and aggressive when my insurer was one week late paying the invoices.

Their ethics and in business process for collecting money isn't very good.

I received three very pushy phone calls telling me to pay now, which I felt was rude and aggressively assertive.

Trying to get in touch with the right team by phone is difficult. It's not what you would expect from a Private hospital.

The experience of using private health insurance and the private hospital is not the best. There is a disconnect with the process and the health insurer has no contact with the private hospital, or very little anyway. So often you will find that you will be sent on a wild goose chase trying to communicate between the two.

I have had some good parts of the experience, but overall it's not what you would expect from a private hospital.
