Friendly staff help make this feel a better experience then most, expect the usual waiting times of course. Car parks are located on the first right after passing the hospital. Some limited outdoors spaces on your left, and a larger, cold-war style underground car park on your right. It's very tight, I wouldn't want to drive a large car down there. Approx £3.50 for 2hrs.

Gotta be the worst hospital around. I came here with my partner as my partner was induced. My son went quiet for days and the hospital did not seem bothered. It took me to really moan for them to do something.

Every nurse we saw was a student and made it very hard to get anywhere. I just would not expect an easy ride coming here and would recommend to go elsewhere to have your baby. As a partner they do not make you feel welcome. I get that it is about the mother but fathers are also worried and are entitled to a welcoming experience.

Next time we plan to have another baby we will not be coming back here.

The people at St Michael’s hospital are the most caring lovely people you could meet
We had our first baby there and they were 110% and made us feel so well looked after .
We will never forget how kind they were and the effort they put in to look after us
Even when they were put in an impossible position with everyone turning up at once they remained 100% professional and caring for everyone
Well done to you all you make us all very lucky to have you

BEWARE WARD 73. Although I had a traumatic birth in the delivery suite, the staff and care were exemplary. I felt so looked after. I was then transferred to ward 73. The difference was night and day. I was given very little information on anything, such as what support I could expect from the staff there, when food might arrive or facilities available such as mother and baby rooms (Only discovered these days later). After visiting hours -6pm, I felt completely alone and terrified. Having a catheter meant I was limited in my movement so I rang for help with my first dirty nappy. It took quite some time to get anyone and when someone came around they begrudgingly helped. No smiles, and their attitude was as if they shouldn’t be helping me - I later learnt that is EXACTLY what they should be doing amongst other things. Another time I rang for help with feeding, as I was having issues latching but got minimal help - not only were there huge delays on response times but I was made feel like a nuisance. This meant my baby was left under fed for 5 hours - which prompted a midwife to abruptly point out that I should be feeding every 3 hours. I cannot explain how stupid this made me feel.
I was later transferred to ward 76 and the level of care was absolutely amazing - this is where I learnt that I can and should ring for help every single time I needed it.
Ward 73 staff - sort yourselves out, you’re a disgrace

It's been 3 days since I had my tonsillectomy at St Michael's Hospital, as this was my first ever operation you can probably imagine I was very scared and incredibly nervous about it all. But I really needed not of been, all the staff were simply wonderful! They really looked after me and they were all so warm and comforting, from the kind gentleman at the front of the hospital showing you where to go, to the friendly and caring Nurses and Trainee Nurses. The Anaesthetist and Surgeon were both really patient and friendly with me and answered all my questions... I had quite a few! I really felt like I was in safe hands. The whole day ran incredibly smoothly and efficiently. I would like to say a special thanks to Nurse Debbie and Nurse Kate, for taking care of me. Thank you!! ❤️

We were totally shocked at how unwelcoming and unfriendly our experience was here.
We didn't feel looked after, and at no point felt like the staff cared about me or our baby. It was all about getting the measurements and 'ticking the boxes' and getting us out of there. I felt like we were in a factory on a conveyer belt.

When I told the member of staff she was hurting me and asked her to stop for a moment, and was it possible to be a little more gentle and go slower, she looked at me as if I was crazy and carried on.

When I told the nurse I have a fear of needles and would rather not be able to see the needle when I was there to have my blood taken, she waved the needle in front of my face.

It felt like the staff were under too much pressure and too stressed to be able to do a decent job. I kind of felt sorry for them. And also, left never wanting to step foot in that hospital again, as I felt I was treated like a piece of meat not a human being.

The hospital also felt so run down and not clean. Non or the staff looked happy or healthy (which didn't fill me with hope either). And I was left in a cold room on my own on an uncomfy old hospital bed with my belly out for ages, not knowing where anyone had gone and when they would be back. Our 30 min appointment took 2 and a half hours. It felt pretty chaotic and disorganised.

We have changed hospitals now and I'm so glad we did, as we are having a completely different and very wonderful experience.
