I’ve rated this as 1 star due to the negative experience from the consultant psychiatrist on the ward. I, and other patients felt invalidated, dismissed and unheard during ward reviews. Those with personality disorders were treated unfairly and ignored by the psychiatrist. And “have never been treated so badly”. To be ignored when trying to explain how you feel, along with the psychiatrist holding a massive stigma against those with PD’s, left patients feeling very lost. Due to the comorbidity of personality disorders with mood and anxiety disorders, these go unnoticed by certain professionals if they have a strong opinion, or simply ignorance. For example, my family and I are disgusted at the way I was treated by the psychiatrist. A professional who laughs at a patient’s struggles and family concerns, interrupts them, doesn’t listen to the patient and states they “aren’t interested” and refuses to assess that patient when in hospital FOR ASSESSMENT should NOT be working as a psychiatrist or in mental health. Staff members had no positive word to say about this psychiatrist, which says a lot. I wouldn’t treat a criminal the way I and others were treated by him. On a lighter note, I’d like to thank the nursing and support staff, as they are working hard due to NHS staffing shortages. Overall, they are friendly, readily available, kind and caring. They will make time to chat with you if you are struggling. Receiving medication and seeing an on-call/junior doctor was an issue for many patients. They would wait up to 10 hours to speak to a doctor to be prescribed things like paracetamol or ibuprofen. I understand the protocol, and that another hospital has priority over this one, but it has caused distress to some patients in need of advice or medication that would have been much quicker to receive outside of hospital. I’d rate this hospital as 3 stars if it weren’t for the experience I had. Working with vulnerable people isn’t the right job for a person who simply doesn’t care or shows any empathy for someone’s difficulties. It has been very clear that the psychiatrist here is working solely for the money, for his title, his own personal gain and high status, rather than the concerns of the patients. It is extremely difficult to respect someone who shows no respect or compassion for you, especially when being in hospital due to being unwell. I am genuinely concerned about the effects of this on a larger scale. This is my experience, and I’ve already heard plenty from others, including staff. I fear this could be damaging for patient’s safety in the future.

although it’s not a good thing i’m glad i wasn’t the only one who felt this trip was a horrible experience. he called me weird, scoffed, smirked, dismissed so much so that i didn’t tell him anymore details because i don’t plan on going back and will be filing a proper complaint since so many others have experienced the same disrespect it’s horrible. you’re supposed to be helping us not making us worse.

Absolutely disgusting inpatient experience. If there were minus stars I would give that. The so called psychiatrist needs to be taken to court and struck off. I was an inpatient for anxiety disorder. Shortly after I arrived there I was 'weaned' very very rapidly off all medication I had been on for years. I slept two hours per night or none for 2 weeks. Shaking with anxiety. He gave less and less tablets every night without informing me of his evil 'regime. Needless to say my physical and mental health suffered enormously. Like a horror story. After a month I was moved to another hospital where I was put back on everything!

Absolutely disgusting hospital considering it’s brand new! From the outside it looks lovely.. as soon as them doors shut god knows what goes on there what we can’t see! Staff are bullies, no consideration for their patients, no respect whatsoever!
Messing around with peoples medication, provoking patients wanting them to flip. It’s doesn’t even deserve one star! Place needs a good look into!

Atrocious service total abuse from Steph Kelly dismissing mental health needs. Still no closer to receiving my therapy after being battered in police custody and stripped naked in the presence of male officers.
They make their own presumptions and meet the tick box criteria only when they want to.
Discharged from service without any service or support provided whatsoever, this service makes me feel suicidal as there is no help out there!! Been awaiting help since September 2019 HELLOOO ITS FEBUARY 2022!!! Provoke vulernable people in their times of need. Disgusting service
ZERO STARS
