Abergele Hospital in North Wales was originally built in 1910 by the people of Manchester for children from the city who suffered from TB. In 2006, after an extensive site search, Abergele Hospital became the preferred option for the new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Unit. Laing O’Rourke was brought in as the supply chain partner on the project using the architectural practice Design Buro to design the new development and put forward materials which would be used.

I had a cataract operation yesterday at Abergele Hospital's Stanley Eye Unit - the other eye was done here in 2015. The skill and care of the surgeons, nurses and other staff are exemplary. Efficient, friendly and totally professional. We are SO fortunate to have these people and this unit in our community. Top class NHS service! PS I can now see the screen to write this with both eyes - just 24 hours after the op. Wow!
