Almost derelict, building materials and unfinished decoration everywhere. A large ‘To Let’ sign outside. No staff in situ, a cleaner gave us key. No soap in bathroom, broken blind nowhere to hang clothes. Trip hazards on stairs. Absolutely shocking, bar and restaurant clearly not been functioning for some considerable time. Whole place should be closed down. Only gave one star as not possible to complete review!

Room was clean and bed was comfy.
George was really friendly and helpful.

However, rooms are in need of an upgrade.
Very disappointed that the pub and restaurant are both closed.
Breakfast not available either.
Luckily a few other pubs etc nearby!

Could be a much nicer place if renovated. Would consider coming back if this was done.

The Unicorn Inn is set in the beautiful village of Deddington.
Very quaint and ancient
George greeted us on arrival and made us feel extremely welcome
There is a large garden at the rear of the property which has plenty of benches and comfortable chairs...also it gets the sun all day, so it was lovely and quiet place to relax in
The room, although small it was very clean and nice crisp white bedding and towels.
Good size TV and a nice view over the garden.
Tea and coffee facilities provided
The double bed was extremely comfortable with memory foam mattress
A good size bathroom with a big walk in shower

Hotel hasn’t been renovated since when it was built (1700’s). The place was run down, my shower didn’t work properly hot water was unreliable, room was dirty when I arrived and they don’t clean while you are staying there. Dirty bedding, bugs and spiders in room every day even with windows all closed, holes in walls over the bathroom, uneven floors in room and all over hotel.

Would’ve given less than 1 star if it was possible.

Avoid staying here. The building was built in 1600s but hasn’t had a refurb since. Rooms are hardly cleaned, shower broken and full of bugs and spiders. The pub part of it looks like it’s been closed for a long time with a massive to let sign outside. Also the cleaner is the only staff you see who will check you inn.

The website does not reflect the reality. From the outside it looks closed and I wondered if I’d been scammed at first - the tired exterior and ‘to let’ sign suggested this. The restaurant is closed so no breakfast or dinner.
Ring the bell and a friendly chap shows you to your room and is extremely clear about where the fire exits are in case there’s a need to evacuate…it felt like the place was deserted!
The room itself is pleasant but the mattress is bedsprung and in very poor condition. The bathroom is in a poor state with large holes in the walls (maybe where a towel rail might have been?)
The sheets and bathroom were very clean though.
It’s definitely not worth the £95 I paid. I’d say £75 at best. Such a disappointment as it wasn’t the stay I was looking forward to
