In short a lovely facade to a shabby establishment: Booked a room late in the afternoon. Upon arrival the receptionist could not find the reservation, and when he finally did, struggled to find an appropriate room. The room itself was decent, but the bathroom dilapidated and mouldy. In addition, the receptionist only addressed me in the singular, though we were a couple. Otherwise the view was gorgeous, overlooking the beautiful park. Breakfast was also lovely.

Firstly the receptionist couldn't find our booking although it had been booked two weeks before. I had requested a disabled room but all rooms were upstairs and there was no lift. At breakfast we had to ask for bowls and spoons for cereals. They brought them eventually and told us our cooked breakfasts were just leaving the kitchen. They had to wait so were not hot when we were able to eat them. There was no milk on the table and I had to keep going to the counter each time we needed it for drinks. Room was nice if a little worn. The view was lovely.

Attended a wedding reception. Great staff, drinks usual hotel prices. Nice small venue with attractive interuor and views overlooking the park. Room very spacious with period features, in need of a little tlc in places but overall very comfortable. Did not make it for breakfast so cannot comment on this.

Food was very basic not what i expected at all. Not enough space for guests to comfortable in dining room no where near enough room in the bar area and not enough seated areas. Staff rude and seemed everything was too much for them. Parking charges extortionate. Rooms too simple and basic for a special occasion I want special accommodation especially at high end prices! Worst of all no hand rails in the toilet for disabled which I believe is now law! If it isn't then maybe a place like this should think about better disabled facilities anyway. Steps on the entrance with no signs to show alternative for those who aren't able bodied and again space and seating areas where wheelchairs can get around would have been good.

Staff are quite Pleasant and ensure that I was in one of the newer rooms as I was saying mid week and it was quiet. The rooms are very old with most of the bathroom have being renovated to a High modern standard, however the bedroom areas need to be worked on more.
I was disappointed that it didn't have full room service however I understand it's not that type of hotel and it does state in the book that the staff can make you certain food up until a certain time, but I felt uncomfortable asking anybody what was on the menu so I ended up getting a takeaway.
The grounds that the hotel sits on is beautiful and you wouldn't expect it to be there as well as there is a small tea shop next to reception which looks lovely in the summer.
I will be staying again as it's good value for money and in an easy to reach location however I hope over time that they renovate the renovate the bedrooms further

Every visit has been good, including for Christmas dinner, the staff are great and really friendly when appropriate, as well as solemn and respectful on the sadder events I've attended.

With it being on Carr bank park you've also got a great view and somewhere for a nice walk.

And on occasion may even run into someone famous visiting.

Owner great. The hotel is a bit tired but really worth staying for a few days. We were there for funeral. Bedroom good clean, lovely towels clean. Water pressure a bit hit and miss. Ground belong to a council parks great for wedding photos. Bar shut early with one person but open a bit later with another. Breakfast is a continental breakfast. However tearooms opposite open at 09.30 really great. However it was a pleasure to visit this truely great building.

Easy to find, and park, beautiful scenery and building. We were greeted by a lovely lady, who checked us in early to a very spacious clean room. The bed was really comfortable and I actually slept longer than i would have done at home.
