Royal Lion Hotel Tenby

As soon as we saw the place we should have carried on driving it's old dirty and disgusting. The first room they gave us on the third floor was smelly the second room was slightly better. When you turned the shower on it leaked everywhere had to put towels down to walk safely across the slippery bathroom,had wet feet sitting on the toilet. The view from our window was a dirty roof no sea view at all.The bed was so hard we could only manage to sleep a few hours we left at 7.30 next morning we paid for two nights will never return. Do not go here didn't have breakfast everything is dirty even to public toilet down stairs didn't lock anyone could have walked in. Should be closed down. Disgusting.

The hotel has superb location- next to the beach, and big rooms. Unfortunately, the rooms are not too clean- windows covered with bird's poos, dirty bed cover etc and they need to be renovated- wallpaper sticks out, plenty of stains... the service ok, breakfasts was disappointing- old and burnt sausage and bacon, we did not eat it. This was one night accommodation, we have survived but I don't recommend to stay longer in this hotel.

Paid £92 for two nights stay and overall I can’t complain considering it worked out to £46 per person with free breakfast. The exterior of the hotel is dated and could do with a revamp but inside wasn’t too bad, yes it can do with a little bit of refreshing but the room itself was generally okay. The bed itself was firm and soft at the same time which I did not mind during my sleep. The pillows could be a touch better but that’s me being fussy. The en-suite bathroom was fairly modern with a bathtub and shower installed however the water pressure from the shower wasn’t great so opted for a bath instead. The bedroom door kept banging through the night when the wind caught it but to fix this I closed the window. Onto the breakfast, for a free breakfast I cannot complain it’s more than edible, uses branded cereals and breakfast came out hot, portion sizes were a bit small but you can help yourself to toast/ bread with a selection of jams. All in all the breakfast is okay and people forget that it’s free. Staff were also friendly and helpful, we bought food and brought back to the room and the staff were more than happy to lend us cutlery and a couple of plates for us to eat. They weren’t overly friendly but they also were not rude in anyway possible.

From my own experience I would say do not expect the best of the best because that’s not what you are gonna have, if you keep your expectations down then you won’t get disappointed. Overall a cheap and okay stay 3/5 I would stay here again.

Staff were very helpful and friendly, the food was freshly cooked and hot. Beautiful views. A great value hotel, room was clean,modern and comfortable.

The hotel itself is dated and needs work done to it. The room was as clean as it could be just feels outdated and needs a refurbishment. But for the price you can't go wrong the location is brilliant with an amazing view. Bedding and towels were all clean and so was the bathroom. Breakfast was ok at best you could skip it if you wanted your not missing much even without breakfast the room is cheap.

For the price it’s great value! Great cooked full English breakfast, friendly service. The rooms are what you would expect a comfortable bed, hot powerful shower and great tv. What more do people want get off your pedestal people it’s just a place to sleep!!

Firstly after reading terrible reviews for this place was a little sceptical about what it would be like but went with an open mind and honestly not as bad as was made out .
The frontage definitely needs an update and a bit of a paint job but inside there is a qute pleasant place to sit , a small check in desk to collect keys
There is a small lift or stairs to the upper floors , the stairs seems to be tilted might be an issue after a drink or two !
The room possibly needs updating as the furniture is quite old faisoned however bed was comfy , clean white sheets and towels , no stains on carpets or anywhere and the most fantastic view from the room
Next morning breakfast inc in the price of the room , lady serving was pleasant when taking our order . U get a full English hot breakfast, maybe a little on the small side but perfectly adequate, u can also help yourself to tea , coffee , ceral, yogurt, toast, juice all quality named brands
