Llys Meddyg Hotel & Restaurant

My husband and I got married at Llys Meddyg in March, 2022 and it was such an incredible experience. Cecilia was a pleasure to work with and made sure everything ran smoothly from start to finish. The food was fantastic (as always!) and all the staff were lovely. We had a very small wedding so all of our guests were able to stay in the hotel for the night and we were all made to feel welcome and relaxed during the entire stay. None of us wanted to leave the next day! The building, rooms and grounds are all stunning and our photos turned out absolutely beautiful as a result. I cannot recommend Llys Meddyg enough for anyone looking for a perfect wedding venue, a lovely place to stay or even just a place to have a truly delicious and memorable meal. It will always hold a very special place in our hearts.

what an amazing weekend in Newport. The team in the hotel were amazing and even managed to organise the weather. The Secret Garden has an incredible atmosphere and the food was excellent. I can't thank the team enough for such a wonderful weekend.

Had a superb meal here. Hadn’t booked and wandered in on the off chance of getting a table. Interesting menu, food more than lived up to the promises and all in all the best meal I have had in ages. Good service too. Keep it up!

Very disappointed. Treated ourselves to 2 nights in August - £180 per night but as it was our golden wedding anniversary !!! Threadbare stained carpet on the stairs.
The room was ok but the bathroom had a rug which should have been thrown out. No plug in the bath and no help offered by receptionist when I went down to ask.
The dining room is not a room but a thorough fair for those eating in the gardens. Not the atmosphere to have a romantic anniversary dinner. The covers on the seating are worn and stained. The food was very disappointing.Chipped cup on breakfast table. Not proper orange juice nor apple juice at breakfast, some cheap sweet alternative. Coffee not good.Granola - only available if you arrived early enough to get it. I had smoked salmon and scrambled eggs - the eggs were not edible. My husband had the vegetarian breakfast. Glamorgan sausage was not cooked. Young untrained staff. The first night we chose to eat at the pub next door and had excellent service and food even though they were extremely busy. We had already booked our anniversary dinner at the hotel. Big mistake . We should have gone back to the pub next door.
Would I recommend this hotel, no way. Will we ever return - definitely not . An expensive mistake,

Pretty Newport. The secret garden at Llys Meddig, with its warmed cabins to sit in, is well worth a visit. I didn't stay in the rooms, hence no review of these. The food was great, staff welcoming.

I visited here by chance after not getting a booking elsewhere... how lucky was I? extremely. We came for dinner and started with the amazing cocktails most very original and luckily there was 9 of us so we were able to order all the different ones. Then the starters came ... wow. The Garden veg board, Roast Parsnip with whipped feta and chargrilled exotic mushrooms not to mention the Roast crabshell linguini all very excellent... I want to add more details but we haven't finished the main meal yet and i plan to try out the cellar bar before we leave... Will update this post tomorrow.

Beautiful hotel and setting. The staff could not have been more helpful. The rooms were extremely comfortable and included The type shower that you would want to spend an hour in. The cellar bar and breakfast provided the following morning were very good!

I look forward to spending more time here in future visits to Newport.

Great service. Friendly and accommodating staff. Free room upgrade. Fantastic food, beautifully presented, picky eater accommodated.
