Went for Sunday lunch. One of the best we have ever had anywhere. Great service. Lovely staff. Took our little dog with us as you can take her into the bar area. Chef even brought her a sausage. I love this place. We go when ever we are in Wales.

The hotel stands in an excellent position in the town, with good views over the river and plenty of outdoor space. Check in was friendly and informative. However our recent staying was disappointing. Its been a difficult few years for everyone but in order to recover hotels need to be competitive and stand out above others in the area.
We were in Room 22 which was a good size, with a clean and modern bathroom, but the bedroom area needs refurbishing. The furniture was "tired" and dated . Cobwebs, dusty skirting boards, dusty unfixed curtains didn't help. Attention to detail is so important
Our evening meal was good as were the breakfasts.
This is a traditional historic hotel that could, with some basic refurbishment and good marketing be full all year round, as well as having returning customers.
I don't like posting negative comments but I don't like seeing potential not being met.

I had a wonderful experience with family and friends. Excellent property with a fantastic old time charm. The room was wonderful and clean. Staff was very hospitable, great food, great service. Close to shops and amenities. Beautiful place. Enjoyed the stay. Thank you The Eagle Hotel Staff.

We visited the eagles hotel yesterday for a spot of lunch in the bar.
Firstly the staff were extremely welcoming and happy to help with all questions and queries.
The food was good quality, extremely tasty and piping hot when it arrived.
The bar had a good selection of beers, wines and spirits too.
Overall we were happy and would definitely visit again.

Really great meal. Amazing service, staff could not do enough to help. Great prices to boot! Having being sick of being let down by tourist trap meals that turned out to be little more than glorified ready meals we booked in for a meal in the bar here. EVERY item on the menu was home cooked from the kitchen, they catered for my son with a nut allergy without any fuss or issues and were really on the ball regarding allergies! They also happily obliged doing a meal from the main menu as a child's portion. Great local brewery ale on tap. This is how bar meals should be and used to be!! 6 people all happily filled up with good home cooked food and drink for £115!!

£65 a night. The room was small, bit dirty in areas, thin pillows, but warm, the staff were nice and the breakfast was good.
I struggled to sleep. In the evening pounding music came up from the ground floor intermittently every couple minutes. But it did stop not long after midnight. I was hoping to relax in the country side. So that wasn't great.

Spent a couple of nights here and it was very pleasant, warm during a very cold week. Lovely staff, nice breakfast and bar food. Nice to see that the hotel is open after it's troubled past.
