The Lodge

The location is a little isolated in-so-far as it's a drive from anywhere. However, it offers fabulous food and a decent range of drink at what I consider to be a very reasonable price. The room we stayed in, a King Room, was very recently renovated in a tasteful manner with a highlight being the comfortable mattress. The breakfast was good and surpringly generous in size considering it was includes in the price of the room. Service at bother dinner and breakfast was a little slow but I believe this was due to a full room rather than last staff! I shall be returning.

Great hotel with great food and all of the staff were friendly. Our dog was made to feel welcome as well and he enjoyed lying by the fire in the bar. Would.and have. recommended to lots of people. We will use again without a doubt.

I only ever write a review if I have a particularly good or bad experience. Thankfully in this case it was really good. The room was clean, spacious and tastefully decorated, with a lovely view of the Usk countryside out the window. However the highlight of our stay was the fantastic food, well cooked and wonderfully tasty no one in our group had a bad thing to stay. The friendly, helpful and prompt service from the waiting staff only helped to make it a thoroughly enjoyable evening for all of us. The breakfast was also very good.
If I had one criticism it would be the surprisingly lack of choice of craft ales for a country inn. I do like my ales but all they had on draft was Butty Bach. Thankfully it was a very nice pint.

We went to the new Thursdays' Tapas Night at the Lodge by Cefn Tilla (formerly The Rat Trap), Usk in the week. Food prepared by the new Spanish chef is top quality. Highly recommended!

Beautiful Sunday roast, lovely staff and quick service loved it.

Second visit to The Bistro for lunch. Both times the food was delicious and the service was excellent.
Jade is very friendly and helpful.

We had a beautiful tapas meal at The Lodge tonight. Pickled Pumpkin has created a selection of wonderful dishes with local ingredients. The samphire and laverbread bajis, oxtail tacos and patatas bravas were particularly great. The team that work there are fab, friendly and so helpful. Also a good choice of local beers. Can't wait to go back. We haven't stayed at the lodge but have seen the rooms on an open day and they are completed to a high standard. Beautiful, quiet location.
