Staff were friendly and the rooms were well kept. The breakfast had a good deal of options, and was put on at 8-9. I would go again. If you have a car it's easy enough to get into town, but is a bit out of the way, which means less noise from students and the like. I would definitely go again.

Upon booking our reservation, my wife asked at what time we could check in to drop our things as we had a wedding to attend at 2pm. We were told we could arrive by midday and that it would be fine. On the day, we arrived shortly after midday, and were told that check-in is normally at 2pm... well we were told midday would be fine, so we felt a bit misled. The hotel is, however, very well maintained and is very clean and lovely. The heating was on max setting when we returned to our room (10:30pm), and had to open a window and turn the radiator setting down to be able to breathe, as it felt like it was on so high for elderly residents. Breakfast was nice. Great selection of cereals, fresh fruit, fruit salad and juices etc. The one other reason why I'm giving 4 stars is because when my wife ordered us both a Full English, one without egg (my wife is allergic), we asked if we could swap out a sausage for a Glamorgan sausage (a veggie sausage). We were told that it shouldn't be a problem, but that they had a to check. A minute later, we're told that to have a Glamorgan sausage, we had to have the vegetarian breakfast. It feels a bit drastic and draconian to enforce a "you have to have the set option" when all we asked for was a small replacement of one meat sausage to a veggie one (to try a local Welsh-named item). Especially when we removed an egg from one of the two breakfasts. And the "full english" has no beans or black pudding, so it feels like a "half english". The sausage is also a lone, thin sausage. Bit disappointing. But, overall, pleasant stay bar those minor niggles.

Not the most charming of places but very decent. Clean rooms, good breakfast and friendly staff. Great if you have to park a car.

Nice hotel with character, not a bland chain hotel, good service, breakfast was lovely.

Welcome and breakfast fantastic. Unfortunately the room was a little tired and could do with updating.

Never been inside but outside looks lovely. I'll definitely be popping in for a pint when the world reopens.
