A beautiful icon of the Brutalist Architectural Style. Alexandra and Ainsworth Estate is a must see for any fan of architecture and any afficianado of brutalism. It truly represents that retro futuristic idealism that brutalism aspired to. Plus the beauty of the estate is how it mixes different elements, from brickwork to glass and metal and how its residents are adamant about plant life which gives this community such a beautiful vibrant feel.

Came to observe the architecture during a guided tour during Open House 2019. Generally well-maintained Gardens, visitor centre and walkways. Informative guides.

To be honest I am surprised this place is still standing. It looks filthy and very badly crumbling in places. Dont even get me started on the waste disposal area. Just 2 large holes in a slightly raised concrete shelf ( about 2 foot high) with no coverings leading directly into the large council steel bins. Health and safety would have a field day on this estate.

I can’t believe people are trying to gentrify a council estate and list a two bedroom flat in this place for £2000 per month when this was originally housing for the working and lower class. Disgusting.

Just some now old bunch of flats and some small businesses. Not maintained properly.

Well designed architecture as for council housing in 1960s, especially defensible space from noisy railways nearby
Not maintained properly.
