Started using this after the laundrette further up the road really started to annoy me with its irregular opening hours. I have to say, for the most part this place is good. Very stuffy because of the tumble driers, very small and cramped, but the machines work, it is generally maintained well, and is clean.

I dropped off a team kit that I knew was very dirty. Upon collection the shirts were folded up in a plastic bag however still damp and smelt . Staff didn't appear very sympathetic towards me as a customer so I wouldn't recommend .

AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

I thought hard about posting this review, especially since I almost never post reviews.
In Covid-19 times, everyone, especially small businesses, need all the help they can get. It was astonishing therefore, to receive the appalling customer service at this laundrette from Tatiana, who is employed there.
I feel compelled to post my experience as a warning to other, unsuspecting customers.
I've never used a laundrette before but my large duvet and mattress topper wouldn't fit into my washing machine. So, I called them to ask if they'd clean my items and what they charged.
I arrived with my items in two large black bags I'd left untied on purpose so they could be re-used for rubbish later.
But Tatiana chose to ignore the fact they were untied and proceeded to rip the bags.
When I asked why? She became extremely aggressive and chose to humiliate me in front of another customer asking if I thought she'd put my clean items back in a dirty bag, before making a production of showing me the bags they provide for clean items.
I was so taken aback by her attitude that I didn't respond. Also, I know from experience when someone reacts that aggressively to a question, they will be closed-minded to the possibility that I'm into recycling and looking after the environment. It was clear those ideas didn't occur to her.
I doubt any customer spoken to in that way, would return.
I know it was only black bags, but I was shocked at the disregard for another's property.
Then I was asked to pay a deposit. But when I presented my card, Tatiana informed me they accepted only cash and that apparently she had told me this over the phone. She had not. Otherwise, I would have been prepared. She didn't seem to realise that by not being upfront from the beginning, any potential customer might feel duped, as I did. Luckily, I had a £20 note in my phone and she gave me a £2 discount for being a new customer.
Tatiana explained the reason for the deposit was because people dropped off their duvets to be washed and then never collected them again, leaving the laundrette out of pocket and having to get rid of the duvets.
I was also told they use bleach when cleaning these items, which personally, I feel is way too harsh to have near your body when you sleep. But again, Tatiana made it clear hers was the best option and nothing else would do. It just felt as though there was no regard for preference or others' property.
After my experience, I'm not surprised people just abandon their duvets there. You could buy two brand new duvets from a supermarket for the price they charge to clean them. And with bleach!!!
What I find so incomprehensible is why a small business would see fit to treat a new customer so badly. For all they knew, I could have been going there on behalf of Which Magazine or something similar. In any case, you'd think in these times, especially, all customers would be valued.
Suffice to say, I will never give my custom to this laundrette again and I will advice friends and family to stay away from there!
Wish me luck as I'll be collecting my items from there today.
UPDATE:
Wow! Collecting my items went well! Not only did I not receive an apology, Tatiana started shouting at me in front of all the customers there and humiliating me again, saying that I lied in my review. Everyone who knows me will testify to the fact that I'm brutally honest - it is why I thought hard about posting the review. But I'm sick to the back teeth of people treating others so badly, and that includes me. They took my money, then Tatiana followed me into the street and continued shouting at me to the entertainment of several bystanders and customers waiting to go inside.
If they had been nicer, I might even have taken down the review.
I'd left a little stain on the duvet that can easily be washed out - it's still there. I can only conclude that they didn't clean my items either.
Definitely will not be using them again and will strongly recommend you think carefully before going there!
