WASHX LAUNDERETTE

This is a narrative review - please read to the end before forming your opinion of either the establishment!!

It was 22 August 2022 and I needed to find a new laundrette in an unfamiliar area. I decided to use the google reviews. Although I admit this paradise was also closest to home.

We were concerned because of the reviews - it wasnt so much the 1 star reviews, but the inconsisency between the 1 and 5 stars which undermined our confidence in all them - we were going into the unknown.

I assumed the 5 star reviews here were fake (how could, any laundrette we worthy of such praise) and from the 1 star reviews I learnt there was an uncompromising woman called Karina who, like the machines, divided opinion. All we knew was she guarded the doors between 9-7.

We attended after 7pm and so, as promised and expected, Karina was not there to assist or provide change, whether that was a blessing or a curse, we will never know.

But for-warned of this by the previous posters we came prepared and so it was no trouble (we recommend you do the same).

We found ourselves in Laundrette heavn - anything less would not do this estblishmen justice. The machines were sublime.

I have hitch-hiked accross several continents (slight exageration perhaps) but I have also been an ittinerant boater in London do 7 years. I have used hundreds of Laundrettes arround the world and these were the best machines I’ve ever seen. High quality, digital, no coin waist, electric magnetic locks - truly machines of the future. The Electrolux T5290, the Rolls Royce of the laundry industry.

Our only concern during our brief visit was that the ominous promise on the “back in 10” post it note would be honoured and Karina, who had so divided opinion should return. So far, they have not. We will keep you posted.

Update, in the 10 short minutes it took to narrate and pen this short review all of our cloths and 2 bed sheets have fully dried, 3 loads of washing spread across, 3 dryers.

Truly an astonishing job.

Woman that works there was rude and over exaggerated all I wanted to do was wash my clothes but she made my experience there really horrible and on that note I won't even be coming back to this launderette and I won't recommend anyone to come here.

Friendly atmosphere and functional washing machines.

Disappointed with this place now. Used to be spotlessly clean when Karima was here. They take up all the machines with the service washes. I was lucky to get a machine out of 10 machines all was taken apart from one. It's a total mess and so dirty.

Avoid this place it seems they have more priorities washing immigrants clothing, forget the local people place is a joke and the girl who works in here is rude and untidy plastic bin bags attached to hot driers health and safety should shut it down

All machine are in good condition nice place to dry and clean

Nice new machines. Very modern. Very clean but no assistant so I had to go in and out of the shops looking for change. Also only half the dryers were working. But early days. Hope it gets better.

Really love how helpful Karima is - always willing to assist if you have any questions or need change which makes life so easy! I also like how there’s always a space available and if you do have to wait, the dryers do their job quickly!
