Liver Launderette

Used this a few times not for clothes washing as I have a machine but I use this place to wash large items that my home machine struggles with like pillows or rugs as the large machines really do wash well with lots of water and are quicker than my home machine.
I also love the driers which only take a few minutes and are great for drying bedding and airing them when the weather's bad
Having said all the pros now the bad bits. On this day I went only 1 washing machine was working and all the others had out of order tickets on them. So ok that's really unusual but I have had problems in here before were my washing is in the machine but didn't wash or started to wash and then just sat there until the end of the program and then the door wouldn't open. I called the emergency number and for an answer phone. I waited an hour after my machine had finished it's program but the door wouldn't open and it hadn't washed my bedding they were just wet. I had to cone back the following morning to find my bedding dumped on top of the machine all dirty and I got a call from Liver laundrettes two days later asking if I had a problem with one of the machines!! Never got any refund!

Appreciate that they still do ask customers to look out for each other by continuing to wear facial coverings - despite both people I saw today not bothering!, 😢 Also have to accept that due to rising cost of energy, price would have to increase. However, inflation busting increases are not palatable. It was not long ago when it cost £3.40 or £4.40 for a load. Now it is £5, £6 & £7 each. Furthermore, to insist on cash payment and neither allow use of banknotes nor provide change facility is ridiculous. Disgrace.

Game changer when you've had family staying and you need to get the Laundry done and dry, before the next guests turn up!
There are a couple of huge machines (ideal for Quilts), Medium and Normal Machines.
Didn't spot the spin driers, unfortunately but, great Tumble Driers.
Being picky, the obvious always happens - people visit and leave their loads (maybe signs saying how long your wash would take and, baskets so that the loads could be emptied by people waiting for access to machines would be good).
A bit more seating and a folding table would seal the deal but, it's a Launderette with minimal space.
Felt amazing having sorted my laundry out, quickly.

I have been coming here about twice a week to do my in laws laundry for the past 6 months. It's always clean and tidy.
I would have given 5 stars. But at present only 4 tumble dryers are working out of 6.
Also only 1 spin dryer works out of 2. No dates given when they will be repaired.

As someone who hasn't used a launderette in a few years I was clueless when I entered this launderette as to how it all worked. Thanks to some very kind people in there that answered my stupid questions I now have the knowledge and, if you care to know I will impart thus.
This is what I know as of December 2022;
You have to have the right cash £2, £1, 50p, 20p, 10p
Where do you get cash from in this day and age?
Big machine is £7
Medium £6
Standard £5
What that means in weight is unclear, but I guess it's just how much you can fit in?
Timing
Big machines take 39 mins
Standard take around 28 mins (it says on the screen when you put the money in)
Dryers 50p per 5 mins. A standard washer load costs about £2 to dry (4 x 50p’s) but you can just keep putting 50p’s in if the cloths aren’t dry enough.
There are 2 spin dryers that cost 50p per go but I didn't use them.
I was very grateful for the launderette as I’m without a washer or a dryer atm.

The laundrette is tired but functional and clean. Prices are very reasonable. There was a member of staff there who was very helpful and pleasant. The only issue I had is that you use to be able to park at the back of the laundrette , but a private company has taken over the car park. It is now it very difficult to use and there are signs threatening fines. I was also told the men wait in their car to pounce and book you. Having said that I know it has nothing to do with the laundrette.

Clean, bright with plenty of machines. Be aware that especially at the weekend the driers are always in high demand so you can have a wait to use one. If you use the washing machines you always have priority for using a drier.
