Great communication throughout and competitive pricing. We have managed to secure a property in less then 3 months with help from Sheila Whitton. I would highly recommend Setfords as property solicitors for your next purchase.

My advice to anybody using this company to check the bad reviews. It was the worst decision that we ever made.

Setfords applied hidden charges totalling £2000 which they demanded before completing stating that they would not complete should we not pay the hidden charges.

I felt Setfords discriminated against me, as they refused to comply with reasonable adjustments that were requested on the outset.

I was a shared ownership house purchaser, Setfords did the first set of legal processes where I obtain to 25%, the second set which is the most recent is for a full hundred percent of the property. It transpired that Setfords did not complete the paperwork from the first set of conveyancing, leading to catastrophic delays in us being able to complete. Setfords blamed it on the previous solicitors, then realised they were the previous solicitors and then tried to pull the wool over our eyes by blaming it on different things.

What you will need to do with this legal firm is chase them, every five minutes I had to chase the solicitors involved, they would refuse to call other parties to try and get things rectified as quickly as possible, meaning that I spent weeks upon weeks doing their job. I’m unsure why I’m paying their fees, given that I was the one that to chase and conclude the case.

Staff are quite rude at Setfords, I found some of them to be okay and some of them to be awful, they don’t necessarily follow their own policy and they will miss guide any other policy. They have limited understanding of what discrimination is, they have little understanding of what urgent is. They very much feel we as customers are just problems.

I raised a formal complaint With Setfords, they did conclude an award an amount of money. They refused to cover expenses that were incurred and losses, they refused to refund current fees, and they refused to acknowledge what they did was wrong, instead they pinned it as a goodwill gesture.

My advice to anybody considering Setfords to think again, they will give you a cheap quote but this will likely increase, They do this to attain the word clearly. Setfords are not very good in my experience and they certainly can’t communicate effectively which is vital when trying to purchase the property. Setfords almost caused the sale to fall through, thanks to my pestering I managed to prevent this from happening.

Recently, I had an ongoing 2 year claim resolved, which was handled by Setfords throughout.
David, Jessica and Maria were friendly, supportive and realistic at every stage being both professional and approachable when I had any queries.
I'm now able to move on and thankful to all at Setfords for pursuing my claim and getting the outcome we did.

A massive Thanks to Giles and the team at Setfords who handled our S&P conveyancing earlier this year (2022). We had a very challenging pair of sellers going through an acrimonious divorce which caused endless delays and restarts. At its height they were even trying to sabotage their own sale to get leverage against each other. At the other end we had a buyer nervous about rising interest rates. Despite all this, Giles kept a level head and delivered the result. I cannot speak highly enough of them.

Extremely happy with the level of service provided whilst selling our property. We were assigned Maria and her assistant Joanna, who both offered great communication throughout the whole selling process and handled everything very efficiently.
