Ways they can improve:
Have a diary showing times when classes are running and best study times.
Allow students to use rooms for quiet study when not in use.
If possible later closing times. (if possible adults only)
More quiet zone signs as kids still go upstairs in groups just to walk around upstairs.
Water Fountain
Fix Internet, some genuine sites don't work and cut out.
Ability to close window blinds as light reflecting off laptop on one side of library obscure visibility.
Humming aircon next to toilets needs servicing.
That's all I can think of now but if any of these can be fixed that would be great.
The space still has lots of areas closed for covid, and this is done in a rather sloppy way. Furniture was piled up like a zombie barricade and booths closed with propped up tables. A cone with a sign on it would have been much nicer. Another thing I felt was unprofessional was that at closing time, instead of a loudspeaker giving a closing warning, a librarian walked around telling people. You don't have a system for announcements?
Lastly, the opening times are disappointing. They work out okay for me because I work an odd hours part time job, but the library is closed to most adults who work a 9 to 5 job, because it shuts at 17:00. I know this is because of government cuts, but it seems short sighted. Libraries should be for everyone, not just for kids and the vulnerable.
