Canada Water Library

Quite a spacious library. Good lighting and design. There is a social area on the ground floor with a cafe to buy food items and there is good accessibility to the other floors. I wish there was more laptop space on the adult floor though.

Modern library with a nice ground floor cafe, Children's Library, Study Area and enormously big library for adults. There are many regular events in the library and it is truly a cultural hub of the South-East London. Additionally, it has amazing view to the lake, located next to the Library.

Very beautiful facilities with everything you need, and great offer of books. More seating in the first floor would be helpful if you’d like to sit down to do some reading, as there are only a few chairs around.
The main inconvenience is how loud and noisy the study area is. There are numerous teenagers running around, speaking on the phone, screaming, or standing in groups just having a (loud) chat like they are in the pub. The members of staff don’t seem to care about it.

After quite a few bad reviews, primarily on noise and rudeness and the library’s NOT so good spot as a workplace, I had to check it out. What I found was:

- ON NOISE: YES, there is a children’s play section on the middle floor. NO, it is not noisy when I am here, although in the middle of the summer with quite a few families here, but there is some noise. YES, I would recommend earplugs or noise canceling earphones if you are sensitive like I am. I always carry my Bose, and put music on if need be. I can however believe that it can be rather noisy with a school class of children. BUT, after 10 days in London, being autistically sound sensitive, this is one of the quietest places I have come across, MUCH more quiet than your typical (silent) cafe.

- RUDENESS and bad mgmt: no idea 🤷‍♂️. But it if it gets noisy here, it is primarily due to the design flaw of putting a children’s section in the middle of an open wall less library, not primarily to inattentive parents and staff I would say.

- INTERNET: No, internet is NOT slow. I get 47 MBIT down and 23 up, VERY good.

- NICE: yes, quite nice and a quiet feel to it. You can find a good spot, put those noice cancelling headphones on, play music, and be happy. With, or without a view to increase/reduce sensory input. There are many different kinds of spots to choose between.

- SILENT FEEL: the soft mat dampens the noise. Even when a little noisy, the noise is not as hard as you might think, given some of the reviews.

5 stars to counter some of the overly bad reviews.

Beautiful facilities and customer service. The reception team kindly gave me a brief as a first-time visitor and helped me to find the right spot to study. Might get a bit loud sometimes in the area shared with children but it's not that massive and tragic noise. Love the book group/club which everyone can join :)

It is a great library to work close at 8pm, on the second floor u can find many people in a row working on their laptops, obvs u can connect to internet. Their toilets are fine. The problem is their is a lot of school kids on the second floor and their noise and gossip sometimes disturb others. First floor do some classes for kids on Thursday and Tuesday in the morning which is also very noisy. But I like this library just bring your headphone and you are good to work

I miss the British libraries.. and have spent much time there as a student, as well as killed waiting time as a tourist, I many of them.

I had stayed in an airbnb nearby, and couldn't charge my phone elsewhere.

They are well equipped, with a lovely children's corner, usb docks, and: you can watch movies on a tablet there as well.

It also seems they have a canteen downstairs, which was unfortunately closed at the time.

Also, their receptionist (a young black man) was lovely and very helpful.
