So relaxing, so peaceful! Honestly one of the nicest stays I've had away in a while. The lodge was clean and tidy and the view was beautiful! My only con would be that they would need to bring the hot tub closer to the cabin as it was very cold at night and you freeze instantly (but there is only 4 cabins that have a little path to the hot tubs, everyone else was fine and had the hot tubs close by)

We had a lovely stay at Oakwood. On arrival the cabin was clean throughout and the hot tub had been heated. The kitchen is small but modern and well equipped and the shower was great. The TV has all the satellite channels and appeared to be a smart TV. Internet was OK, but don't try to do work over a VPN.

The grounds are well kept and there is a large area of grass at the bottom of the site (that could accommodate a play area perhaps - but is empty at the moment). Each cabin is screened but you don't get complete privacy. The site is very peaceful and relaxing. We had Red Kites flying right above our cabin, and the sound of sheep is all you can hear. Our view (No.3) was spectacular.

It is about 2.5 miles into Rhayader and a 15 minute drive to the Elan Estate (which is excellent).

The cabins are beginning to show their age with some obvious repairs to the bathroom. The covers on several of the hot tubs was only placed on and the mechanisms to draw them back are broken - this was not a problem for us but might be if you are not so able.

Everything has gone to seed since we last enjoyed our favourite UK holiday here. We were unaware of the change of ownership.

Our 2-bed lodge was tiny, tatty, lights not working, rickety baby gates on the decking for dogs and the hot tub is missing its lever to push back the lid, the lid falls onto cut grass lower down so lifting it back on was a nightmare. My husband and I have fragile backs, with L5/S1 discectomies - the lids weigh easily around 6 stone without the cantilever mechanism which were installed on every hot tub when we first visited. We stay at lots of cabins with hot tubs and this was the first to have no removal mechanism. We raised the issues and requested to move.

We moved to lodge 12, a 3-bed 'luxury' lodge (apparently). The previous owners had upgraded us for free (just due to being fully booked at the time) when we first stayed, and it was gorgeous, so we were relieved to be out of the shabby wooden tent and back to a lodge we knew. We were asked to pay £100 extra, even though the issues with the first lodge were not our fault.

However, the standards had slipped significantly since we last stayed. The hot tub was again missing the lever so moving didn't resolve the issue, and was cold on arrival. We had no working TV or WiFi in the lodge. The advertised DVD Player was not in the property (we even took emergency DVDs) so we stared at walls while our phonecalls were ignored the first night. How luxurious.

When we both managed to move the hot tub lid the next day, once it had heated, half the jets were broken and headrest missing. There were other issues: the freezer door also kept falling off so our food perished. No room for toiletries in the bathroom as no shelves at all, and no dishwasher tablets. Four people arrived throughout the 1st morning, after my husband and I called and texted constantly. Nobody could fix anything, and then we had to wait another hour for the booster when we just wanted to head out.

We had to live on Netflix in the evenings which wasn't ideal, sometimes you just want to relax with non-descript tv. The bedroom TV didn't work on Freeview nor WiFi either, utterly pointless.

One night Netflix was drowned out by neighbours in lodge 13 blaring music, despite the no music rule. Seems to be a growing issue judging by reviews, as the site is abandoned at night and selfish guests know it.

On leaving we were called, while driving home, for payment of the extra £100 and refused to pay it. It just wasn't good enough, far too many faults, not resolved. They accepted our explanation in writing/message.

However, moments later my husband was sent photos of a carpet pulled up from under the silver threshold of a bedroom claiming our dogs had 'chewed the carpet' and the entire twin bedroom carpet needs replacing and they'll send us the bill!

Our dogs are 8, too old to chew, and have log cabinned all their lives (including at this location) with no issues. On researching it, as I was suspicious, similar carpet images appear on other Trip Advisor reviews. The image sent to us looked liked the cleaner had hoovered the badly DIY fitted carpet out of the trim - carpet tape would fix it! We'd also paid the £30 doggy damage deposit!

It's been very upsetting. We won't ever return again.

Love it here, just returned from our third visit. It''s so peaceful usually but unfortunately this visit one night was spoiled by some selfish guests loudly partying til 3 am. It's a great place to get away from everything. Has everything we needed but the WiFi was patchy (I rarely got my phone to connect but my ipad was fine) and the oven goes from warming things through to burning the top with little in between. The slider for the hot tub cover was broken which was a bit of a pain. But these are all minor niggles and we and the dogs had a great get away from everything break. Just what the doctor ordered.

No water at all!!! A very bad experience - you won't get your money back.
When we first arrive at the holiday house, we had NO WATER in the showers or in the toilets.
We have called the owner, and he first says that they have run out of water supply, and they are working to get water for tomorrow.
After 24 hours there was still no water in the house.
We were 2 families with small kids, we couldn’t bath them, we didn’t have water to wash ourselves.
We have called the owner again and they say “it’s the whether – we can’t do anything about it”
So, we have asked them nicely to find us a solution to use shower nearby (they could easily rent us a b&b nearby just for showers or to give us some other solutions) but they IGNORED us.
as we saw we can’t continue like that our holidays anymore, we have asked them nicely to refund us the money and so we can go somewhere else.
They refused the give us back the money and they start shouting at us over the phone.
5 days after we arrived they found out that they have a problem with the boiler. They said they have sent someone to fix it so we waited another day.
A day later, we left the premises as we had no other choice, we didn’t have normal showers for 6 days, and the kids were crying that they want to go back to a normal house with water.

After getting married we decided a quiet, relaxing break with the dog was what we needed and come across Oakwood Lodge Park on the internet out of chance.

Check in was super quick and easy. As soon as we arrived I followed the directions to reception, which in the end turned out to be simply a store cupboard, with various envelopes on the side containing all the names of everyone checking in that day, each envelope containing the key to your lodge.

After retrieving our envelope we simply drove to the corresponding lodge and parked up outside, each lodge has its own car park space.

We were very pleased with our lodge, it was spacious and very clean. The hot tub was hot and ready as soon as we arrived.

The setting is truly what makes the break here. Surrounded by fields and vegetation, our break here was very relaxing with minimal noise and no busy main road nearby.

There is no shop, cafe or restaurant here. It is essentially a farm with a few lodges and hot tubs. The closest town, Rhayader, is less than 10 minutes drive away. One night we decided to walk into town with the dog for a few drinks and a meal. Walking into town takes approximately 50 minutes, most of which is along a quiet country lane.

If you are taking a dog, this park is perfect. It's quiet setting is ideal to take a companion and there is even a dog field for thrashing them with a tennis ball.

Overall the park seems very well maintained and we had a fantastic break here and look forward to booking up again.
