I used to roam freely round the manor when I was a boy. Now it's fenced off and only open every blue moon. I'm sure it costs too much also but I haven't bothered to find out. I would have rated higher as the surroundings are picturesque and the manor stands so well. Worth a visit but check when it's open. The manor is just a shell so don't expect too much!

We spent a magical afternoon in this magnificent ruined palace. Greg our guide was both knowledgable and entertaining; his passion made long-dead history seem like yesterday. I would highly recommend it to anyone with even a little interest in history and local culture; exploring it was a dream come true for a lover of the medieval and Tudor periods!

I only discovered this place a month ago, and today I was privileged enough to get a tour, The guide was very well informed with his history of the building and kept the tour light hearted and informative. The only downside to the building is that it is only open once a month.

Googled this place and it says OPEN every day but it's actually CLOSED. Place not well sign posted from road either. No closed notice at first Heritage board or second Heritage board. Very small sign on a wall opposite the Manor when you get to top and what looks like a car park at the Manor was gated and locked. Phoned the number on Google site spoke to Robert who says only open every so often, need to ring to book and it's closed anyway for masonary repair until April 2019. Be handy if they put a note on the site on Google and at the bottom of the lane entrance to this effect. He did say there's is an apology note on the Heritage site but it needs putting on Google as well as current info is misleading and not everyone is a Heritage member. Would avoid an unnecessary long journey

A total waste of time. This historic site used to be open regularly, now they have restricted the opening times (and you have to book in advance) so much to effectively make it a private only. Outrageous misappropriation of an historical site.

Closed to public. Waste of time going there as a tourist. Now have to book in advance to visit when one used to be able to walk around the ruins.

Dramatic ruin visible for miles. Footpaths run close to it but no access to ruin currently.
