If you are not going to honour warranty then why mention it at all....

That pretty much summarises mine and my wife's experience with Deta. We had called regarding an LED Dimmer Switch that had stopped working and instead of being open to the idea of the product becoming faulty within the warranty period, the technical support guy kept diverting and avoiding any rational conversation of how the warranty can be honoured.

Even after being told that the electrician had checked the dimmer and the LEDs, he was adamant that we first change the LEDs before they even consider honouring the warranty. And if changing the lights does not fix the issue, then get the builders to contact them.

This is for a product in a new built house which is around a year old and the warranty is "supposedly" for a 2 year period....

I had a couple of smoke alarms, 2 to 3 years old, kept going off. Spoke to technical dept. at Deta and they confirmed 5 year warranty. I returned the smoke alarms and was advised that they were faulty. Two replacements alarms were posted out to me. I have to say great customer service guys, much appreciated.

Had Deta switch plates & sockets fitted across the house when we had a major extension 16 years ago - now wanted to put a few matching switch plates & hdmi enhanced sockets in to match existing chrome with white. Couldn't find them anywhere & the stockist which (I'm reliably told) did still have them was not responding to enquiries. One e mail to Deta CS and I received helpful info by return with a link to a web seller that currently supplies the range. Now ordered & thanks to Deta CS I' in the good books at home ! Result ..

Never experienced such poor customer service. I had a faulty smoke alarm which was within 5 year warranty period from when I moved into property but Deta said it was over 5 years since it was manufactured so they wouldn't replace it. I offered to buy one but they wouldn't sell me one as they were keeping them to replace faulty ones still under warranty! As they were incompatible with any others I have now had 3 Aico smoke alarms fitted to replace them.

Manufacture a smoke alarm. It fails 6 years in to what should be a 10 year lifecycle. Ofcourse the warranty is only 5 years. They also discontinued it and have replaced with devices that are not backwards compatible with bases. Meaning you have to have a whole new installation - causing delays to rectifying safety critical measures! Curt and unhelpful customer support also.

Absolutely rubbish company. No customer service. We moved into our new build property 4 years ago - 1 week after the house was completed. The smoke alarm comes with a 5 year guarantee, but because it was manufactured just over 5 years ago, its out of its 5 year warranty - they say. Completely against trading standards rules, but when I pointed out how illogical this was, they couldn't care less. I explained that if you bought a product with a 1 year warranty from a shop and it broke within 6 months, the shop would not be able to claim the warranty had expired because it had been made in China over 1 year ago. Warranties normally run from the time of purchase not manufacture. They weren't interested though.

Terrible Service. After contacting them regarding faulty smoke alarms that were installed in a 4 year old property, They came back with this response:

Unfortunately the alarm have only a five year warranty. According to the images this means they are no longer covered by the warranty and therefore I am unable to assist further.

I bought a 10w flood light with PIR and it didn't last a month. It looked as if the led lights were faulty as some were not lit up. Threw it out and I didn't keep the receipt unfortunately
