They have been allegedly servicing my car for 6 years, about 46k miles done over that period, with expensive invoices every time. They informed me today that I need my spark plugs changed as that is my cold start issue. When questioned they have never in those years changed the plugs - even though good practice is 10k miles ( B & R recommend 30 k miles is what BMW advise - yet 46k miles they still haven’t replaced them). Yet are happy to try and charge for them to be replaced as a separate problem. They have also only changed the oil filter once and never done a fuel filter.
They then tried to say that it is the fuel causing the problem, the car has never been run on standard fuel and I only ever use top quality fuel.
They have previously tried to change me £700+ to fix the door handle - a local garage took it apart and oiled the mechanical bits and for £60 it was fixed and never since had a problem.
They are con artists and dreadful mechanics.
DO NOT USE THIS GARAGE.
I went to this garage to get my heating matrix changed. After getting a few quotes I chose to go with B & R Garages. They weren't the cheapest but were local and had been recommended by another garage.
Initially they were friendly and helpful, they gave me a final price inclusive of VAT, told me the job would take 2-days and could fit me in the following Monday.
I dropped the car off on the following Monday morning and told them (on the phone upon booking and in person) that I would need the car back by 5pm on the Wednesday - giving them an additional day in case of any issues.
They did have an issue with supply of parts and I was informed of this, but Tony reiterated that 5pm on the Wednesday wouldn't be a problem.
I called the garage on the Wednesday lunch time to check 5pm would still be ok and the mechanic, working on the car, said this was still fine.
I arrived to collect the car at 4.50pm, to then be told that the car wasn't ready and would take another 30 minutes or so.
Annoyed, I waited and Tony said that we could sort out the bill. Upon issue of the bill, the price had increased by £80+vat. I asked why I hadn't been informed and Tony said he had quoted for "best case" and not for refilling the gas (?!). Tony was adamant that this was the only change to the price.
As I was late for my appointment, I paid the bill and left. I then re-checked the bill and realised I had been charged an additional £13.19 for no reason.
I re-visited the garage to discuss this with Tony and his attitude and customer service skills were disgusting. Nothing was his fault at all - in fact mine because I was late for my appointment. I asked if he was willing to lose a customer for £13.19 and he said yes - it wasn't his fault.
He was horrible and I would advise nobody use this garage - your price will increase and you won't get your car back in the time guaranteed.
After mixed experiences with a few different garages around South Wales, I wouldn't trust anyone else with my car.
Highly recommend B&R and will definitely use them again.
