When calling requiring a matter which was causing me severe distress, Hannah (receptionist) was able to calm me and talk through the problem suggesting the most appropriate nurse/Doctor to see. Ally (nurse) was extremely helpful and put me at ease. I would recommend using this facility as these two ladies are fantastic, supportive and caring.

Usually the doctors are really nice, and on a good day the receptionists can be helpful. More often than not though, the reception team is impatient, rude, and make you feel like you're bothering them needlessly. I asked for an adhd referral and they lost my questionnaire for 2 weeks (on the phone to reception one of the nicer ones finally found it, it had been lying on the counter and wasn't filed properly even though its supposed to be confidential). Brought this up later on and they staff gaslit me saying that never happened. Lots of other negative stories, i've walked away from there in tears twice.

Every person I've
spoken to at this surgery shows the NHS at its best. No prejudice or discrimination, strict observance of covid guidelines and quite possibly the most helpful receptionists in the world. Thank you for your care.

Best GP practice ever while I was at Essex Uni. They detected my tumour and referred me to the nearest hospital for further tests and treatments. Although I had to cut my academic research short and return to my country I cannot thank everyone at the clinic enough for the medical and emotional support they gave me during my darkest times.

Booked over the phone for the 2nd september for an appointment, turned up to a sign on the door saying they were closed. Had to call row hedge to find out the appointment was moved there but had not been informed it was moved or that the university doctors was closed. Poor communication

My GP here is a lovely person, it’s a shame I can rarely manage to book an appointment as the lines seem to close an hour and a half before the surgery’s closing time at 4:30. What’s the point in having a reception if I can’t book an appointment??

The worst experience over the phone I have ever had, it was horrible. Look if you don’t have experience on the phone with people, don’t put them on the phone. It only makes me think how they’d answer to someone more vulnerable than I. How could you be so rude to a patient that simply wanted an email that was provided incorrectly 2 days ago, it’s already stressful as it is with strikes and stuff going on, and you can’t just keep saying no no no to stop someone talking, no empathy whatsoever. I’m absolutely appalled, by the end of the call I didn’t even get an email to send my details to, she just hung up on me and basically said go to the GP closer to you, even though the woman I spoke to previously advised that because I’m already half a year in and will return in 6 months to Essex, there would be no need to transfer my details to another GP.

As others have said Dr Dawson was wonderful to me and I have nothing but praise for him, one of the best GPs I've have had. Unfortunately like others have said, it seems like some of the receptionists do not want to help or have much compassion especially for those with mental health issues. Fills me with anxiety every time I have to call to book an appointment, not the way a GP surgery should make you feel.
