Southgates Medical Centre

Trying to get through on the phone is difficult. Sometimes the queue is so long and once I had to wait for 2 hours.Another time I came to the surgery because I couldn't get through on the phone and had a silly conversation with the receptionist about making an appointment online, but I can't do it online. I ask to book appointment now and she say I am not doing, if you want come to interpret and she will do appointment. I said i don't need interpret help, I just want book appointment now! So 3 weeks I have back pain and struggling to get appointment to doctor!!! drives me mad getting an appointment. Why can't it go back to normal. They say on the news people are not attending the doctors with problems soon enough, well it's because of the system, its so difficult.

Referred to the surgical center (Coach House). Staff couldn't be more friendly, polite and helpful. They really relaxed me during my procedure and made the whole experience positive. Thanks guys and girls!

Should have the option to not give any stars sick of this surgery you ring up they're busy get in the car go there not a patient in sight had a phone appointment was told to make appointment for bloods to be taken i explain i also work and can only make certain days don't want to know its ok for the reception staff to infuriate the patients but you leave your opinion then its ok for them to send you snotty letters im also sick of hearing the new covid excuses i also worked throughout covid oddly enough didnt have an appointment til the 16 but managed to get me into the woottons thurs appalling surgery dr i spoke to today and previously fantastic just the reception staff who seem to think theyre above actually reading patient notes and helping

Located just outside town centre, 10 minutes walk from train station and 15 from bus station. Wheelchair accessible parking and entrance. Toilets available on site, including wheelchair accessible one. Touch screen by the entrance to sign in upon arrival, so no need to speak to receptionist. Waiting area up and downstairs available. Lift available also. Pharmacy just next doors if you need any meds straight away.

I have deliberated before placing this review but people need to know what exactly is going on at this establishment ( Having had a read through some of the previous posts placed on here there does seem to be a common theme with contributors reviews ). The Doctors and Nurses at Southgates Surgery when you get to see them are GREAT. However getting to see them is the issue! Called in on Monday to make an appointment to see my regular Doctor but got a most unhelpful person, I didn`t argue or make a scene I just walked out of the surgery feeling really fed up and dis-illusioned wondering what todays society and public service had come to. Popped back there today in the hope someone different was on the reception desk.......luckily enough yes. I went back to ask for a urine sample pot ( I had since received a hospital appointment for next Tuesday and they have requested a urine sample ) and to make an appointment to see the Doctor who had arranged the hospital treatment. The urine sample pot was no issue but I was unable to make an appointment in person to see a Doctor, apparently I need to fill in an online form!

Waiting for the present medical issues to be resolved before initiating a transfer to a more accommodating Doctors Surgery.

Husband in a lot of pain with gout coming back.called and told to go online and book, he explained he was in an area with no internet connection.lady on phone said sorry you need to go online. He asked if she could just book it and she said no.
After 10 mins she said ok I will book it but the wait for a call back is 2 weeks.
He has been in so much pain so asked if I wait until 8 get home and book online is it still 2 weeks she said no a day!,
So unhelpful, poor people who can’t use internet.
No wonder people call and give up and suffer!

Routine appt for a smear made and attended today. Never the best of experiences and today was no exception-it hurt like hell. However Sandra went above and beyond trying to succeed without causing me too much anguish, eventually summoning a Dr for assistance. Between them I was sorted. A big thank you to them both.

Before COVID use to be a good medical center now they prefer to hide from patients I'm very disappointed 😞
