Awful surgery. You wait 20 mins on the phone to make an appointment at allocated times you can only call at 8am or 12pm. Then to be asked by an medically untrained receptionist "well what is the problem" im afraid its personal and i would rather not say. " well i need to right some sort of description for the doctor" well can you not right "PERSONAL" !!!!!!

Nine times out of 10 you wait for so long on the phone when its picked up they hang up straight away.....or you wait so long when you do get through your told unless its life threatening illness they have no appointments. I mean come on where is the logic in this system??

As patients we are advised if your late for an appointment you may not be seen, yet if my appontment is at 10am i am lucky to get in the doctors room by 11.30.

I find the receptionists rude and nosey all except a couple. Tina and beverly. There are never enough appointments to reflect the number of patients nor enough doctors to reflect the amount of appointments as your never seen on your allocated time ok we allow for the little old lady in front of us to run over 10-15 mins not really an issue, but to be sat there still an hour to 1.5 hours later is a joke.

This surgery could maybe look into a new practice manager??? Or an investigation as to why it is such a let down to the nhs!!!!!

Shocking wait times for appointments. Long wait on phones even at 'quieter' times. Doctor rushed through appointment on 2 occasions. Nurse made several mistakes during a vaccination appointment. Prescriptions messed up on numerous occasions. After 3 years of this surgery I've finally had enough and will be leaving. Avoid.

If I could give this surgery no stars I would !! Rude doctors and useless receptionists, go in about one problem and get lectured about another!!! Thought doctors were supposed to listen and care not make you feel like a child when you are a 37 year old woman, never felt the need to write a bad review but today has tipped me over the edge :( having been a patient with this surgery for many years,I have never come away from an appointment feeling worse than before I went in,bring back Dr Hughes all is forgiven!!! Wouldn't have happened with him around that's for sure !!!

Waste of time with this gp. Wanted to make appointment for my 1yr son because he's been sick for 2 weeks.
2 weeks ago we called to get appointment for him they told us that it's to early to make appointment and someone will be in touch with us since that we was trying to get appointment everyday till today and all we get is theres no space available. That's a non sense. Again when our son was born since first day he had cold been going to gp they said he is fine every single time we get appointment. After 4 months trying to get help he had to rush to hospital cause our son had problem breathing. Doctors in hospital was really surprised that gp didn't help us straight away.. so if anyone is planning to sign up to this gp don't do it.....

Receptionist I spoke with today was very unsupportive and was implying for no reason that she is not lying// why ?? . I am concerned about my daughter and the way I was spoken to was disgusting. As a father I have a right to be concerned and this lady lacks people skills In my opinion of course.
Additionally it is impossible to get in touch with this surgery over the phone as It does not place a person on hold it informs you to try again and disconnects you after. Tried this Friday at least for 1.5 hour

And I called again as TOLD by the receptionist and you know what ?? I have been told it's too late and I need to call tomorrow or 111. I find this disguising

I am appalled at some of the reviews regarding Hanway Group Practice. Yes, Dr. Hughes was wonderful but we are so fortunate to have Dr. Shane Lookit as his replacement. He is polite and very caring. I could go on but this covers everything. Dr. Gaught, also, who has attended me many times, is superb, as are the other Doctors. They are all five star and we are very lucky to have them. The receptionists, some who have been there for many years and Beverley, the head receptionist have never been rude but have been a joy to deal with in difficult times.
Many of my friends who belong to Hanway, mirror my opinion.

free the merger with portsdown group my surgery has gone to the dogs and that's being polite. So far I've waited 8 yes 8 days for a repeat prescription you can't get through on the phone receptionists are down right rude and they tell lies!!!! Letter will be going to family practitioners committee on Monday morning

Poor and rude attitude of the receptionist Lauren who didn't know what good customer service means. She didn't show any patience, professionalism or respect towards her customers. I personally wouldn't recommend the practice.
