Our favourite Cinema. Easy to reach, great parking space outside.

Staff is always friendly, the cinema is never too full, the screening areas are always clean.

We love, love, love Baskin Robbins Icecream!!!

Nice Neighbourhood cinema that’s conveniently located at the shopping plaza. The have not upgraded the seating to the recliner style electric chairs in modern post covid venues. They still have the old school auditorium style seating. Otherwise, there are large aisles and nice foot space.

The confectionery and snacks are typical cinema fair.

It’s got a nice large screen. On our visit the cinema pre-seating was done completely in the pitch darkness without any aisle lighting. It was definitely someone forgot to turn on the lights after the previous showing. About 10 minutes before the start time, they finally turned on the red ambient lighting. Then, at start time, they showed about 15 minutes of advertisements and about five minutes of film trailers.

All that may be just the way cinemas are operating post-covid lockdowns. We haven’t gone to cinemas much since before covid. So, it could just be a one-off or just how they operate now. It makes it more likely for me to prefer streaming at home or to seek out the updated cinemas with modern seating and real dining and bar options like Cinemark.

Even so, it’s a nice Cinema for a town like Dover and nice outing to see a film you want to see before it’s available on streaming.

My last experience of Cineworld a few years ago, was that it's over priced and nothing has changed two drinks cost £8.95 and 3 packs of sweets cost £10.50 (£3.50 each) I have no clue why the prices are so high. Usually I would take my own snacks but as time was short I reluctantly paid their extortionate prices. The tickets cost less than the snacks as we had an offer from 3 ( the mobile network) which made 1 child and 1 adult £11.99 total. Without the offer the usually price is £17.95. I won't be rushing back to a Cineworld at anytime and only chose this over our smaller local cinema as the film my son wanted to watch was only playing at Cineworld.

I had really hoped that it would be possible to sort this situation out with Cineworld without me having to write such a negative review. I have sent numerous emails in an attempt to be civil and hoped that they would do the same however after an initial civilised email exchange they have chosen not to reply to my last two emails . With this in mind along with the 3 months that have passed since then I feel like I have no choice but to write this.

On June 1st I decided to visit the Baskin Robbins outlet at the Cineworld site in Dover for an ice cream sundae to round off what until then had been a lovely day out in Folkestone. Of course this would mean a journey from Folkestone to Dover which typically takes me around 15 to 20 minutes approximately. Looking at the Cineworld site before leaving there is no information or even a mention that the Baskin Robbin outlet closes well in advance of the cinema itself.

Upon my arrival at the cinema the Baskin Robbins counterwas almost directly in line with the enterence, the signs advertising all of the "available " products were illuminated and there was no ribbon across the counter to indicate that it was closed plus there weren't signs anywhere stating the closing times. Upon approaching the counter I could see that all of the different flavours of ice cream were still in a position where they could be served so I then went in and stood at the counter where I hoped to be served.

The girl that was running the counter just took one look at me and said "we're closed ". I stated that I just wanted one of the sundaes and that as everything was there that surely she could do that for me as I had driven down especially however she just refused and said that the tills had been shut down. I then offered to pay with the right money at which point her colleague chimed in and stated that if they were to serve me that they would be subject to disaplinary action, I asked from who and he said the auditors.

The impression that I got from being there is that whoever dreams up these pointless policies would rather people walked away dissatisfied so long as the silly company policies are carried out.

I emailed the complaints page and got nothing more back then a half hearted apology and after contacting Baskin Robbins directly all I got in response from a team leader was another half hearted apology for my wasted trip. I then sent a reply asking for further answers which was just ignored.
No compassion at all, no offer to do anything to make up for the time and fuel that I wasted that evening, no indication of what steps they could put in place to prevent this from happening to someone else, just "that's it, tough luck."

Looking at recent news reports it looks as though attempts to bring customers back to Cineworld after the pandemic have failed and if this is how they treat people is it any wonder they are nearly bankrupt I mean what exactly do they expect if they treat potential customers theway they did me.

Also I see that the chief executive has been in court lately.
Tells you all you need to know .

Lovely staff, great place to watch new releases. The seats were clean from when I visited, the food is just a bit too pricey for the lack of taste.

It was okay. Seats were comfy and the screen was nice and warm! We ordered 3 drinks and some nachos which come to £16!!! The nacho cheese was off, I think next time I’ll bring my own nachos and cheese…

Great cinema. £6 for a tiny bit of pic a mix for my daughter was an absolute rip off though. If they lowered their prices for food, sweets & drinks.....they may actually make more sales. It was the first and last time I will make any purchases in there.
