We filled in the online form for a quote from Scotts of Somerset for removal only and on receipt of the quote contacted the company as we felt that quote supplied was two low. we requested that they visited the property on 2 occasions but each time was advised it wasn't necessary. despite this we asked that an additional 30 boxes and explained that we had a shed full also. we were advised that they would be with us between 8am and 9am.
The day of the removal two men arrived at 8.55am in a tiny truck which we immediately knew would be too small. we advised them of the same and the removal men came into the house and confirmed this followed by a lot of swearing! they were on the phone for the best part of 45 minutes (both men) arranging a seco d truck. they then insisted that (even with a toddler present) by wife and her elderly father help them to get stuff out of the house as they stated they would be able to finish before 1pm (the completion time as we I formed them on booking).
My wife informs me that one of the men was pleasant enough however the other was rude, swearing, shouting and making racist comments and showing complete disregard for our belongings.
The second truck arrived at about 11am and the third gentleman was just as rude! they continued to show no regard for our property ramming furniture and boxes into door frame.
if the attitude was not bad enough at 12.15pm the three men shut the doors to the trucks (one of which was full the other about 1/3 full) and refused to take anymore or help my wife and her dad move anything as we were not paying them enough! with 45 minutes left before we were legally required to hand the keys over the house had a rooms worth of items and the garden furniture and she'd still needed moving with us having no means of doing so. one of the men even took the BBC out of the truck stating that it was not in a box therefore they weren't taking it!
after having my wife in tears I telephoned the headoffice who stated the same. but rather than telephoning either myself or my wife to arrange further payment they refused to do anything further. my wife arrange for the new owners of the house for the remaining items to be collected later that day (ALTHOUGH Scotts of Somerset still refused to take 2 small van loads of stuff as it was either unboxed (such as our child's play kitchen and the BBQ?!!) or it was too fragile and they wouldnt accept it (the glass for a french dresser).
on arriving at the new property (a 3 storey Victoria. terrace) the removal men refused to take anything to the top floor. They left items on the road getting rained on for my wife and her dad to move it into the house whilst they brought more up (there were 3 removal men!!) when carrying wooden desk up the stairs they snapped a leg off trying the get around the top of the stairs rather than waiting for help.
This was on top of the 20 minute cigarette breaks they room every 45 minutes! yet they complained about the amount of time it was taking them.
We continue to find items that have been damaged or broken as we unpack and have been extremely disappointed by the service we received from this company.
being the complete opposite of a straightforward stressless move we would 100% not recommend this company as we found them to be unprofessional with no regard for their customers or their belongings.
