A good day out with lots of hands on activities. Learn to control trains with signals. The APT display is fantastic and very informative. Friendly staff and a ride on miniature railway.

I’ve been past the Heritage Centre many times on the train in and out of Crewe, but this was the first time I’ve visited. We arrived on a Sunday morning, at about 11am, and it was great for casual train fans, train geeks, and kids who love all things rail-based.

The highlight for me was definitely being able to explore the InterCity APT train (including messing around in the driver’s seat and even turning the lights on and off), but the visit also included a Metrolink tram, various other trains, some amazing model railway layouts. Oh, and a miniature steam engine that you could ride up and down a track and through a tunnel.

Throw in a bunch of great railway memorabilia in the shop and a view of the West Coast Mainline you won’t better anywhere and, well, this is an absolute bargain. Really helpful and friendly volunteers, would 100% recommend.

Nice collection of trains and quite a few you can go on. A selection of model trains also on display.

Finally visited the Heritage centre after many years away from Crewe. We really enjoyed the visit, especially going on the ATP and sitting in the front cabin of an InterCity 125. The viewing platform for the live junction was great. The junction boxes and demo was good to see, and realise the physical work to run it!
Inside the exhibition was informative and interesting, especially for a former lad from the Crewe area.
Great if you have or indeed do live in the area or have an interest in Trains.

Absolutely beautiful museum, the entry was £5 per person, a great place for trainspotters!
We made a nice day out from it.
Definitely recommend

A great day out, I am slightly geeky but this centre, would be great for those who just want to see something different!

Staff were friendly and knowledgeable, especially in the Exeter signal box!

Visited on a early Sunday morning
Was here around 1.5 hours with a toddler
Shame cafe closed as that’s quite a highlight for a toddler. The train ride was good fun. Stopping along the way for photo opportunity sitting on the train cab. Most of the museum had been cleared out . Maybe for the car event that was due to take place so only a few things to see inside : needs more here to make a longer stay and please get the cafe or at least a pit stop refreshment pop up stand!!!! Thanks
