What a perfect museum!

Whilst the museum only covers 2 floors, it makes excellent use of them. All displays are logically laid out and well labelled, with captions that strike a perfect balance between entertaining and educational.

There's a few sections that contain information on how exhibits are stored behind the scenes, which is an aspect of museums I've never seen explored as clearly.

Well worth a visit, especially for the free price!

This museum was one of the highlights of Cambridge for me, spent a fair few hours here and probably could have spent a fair few more. So many interesting displays to see in here and the staff who work here are very friendly and willing to answer any questions they can. Really enjoyed everything about my experience here.

The skeleton of the Fin Whale is the crown jewel in an enormous and fantastic collection of specimens that the University Museum of Zoology houses. You need to visit for at least a few hours to do justice to the sheer number of exhibits at this place. Definitely worth a visit!

This is superb! Bright, modern, with display cabinets at the right height for children to look into, lots of gruesome creatures, various bugs, snakes and pickled squids in jars, spiders as seen in the Harry Potter film when demonstrating the Cruciatus Curse, huge skeletons - check out the humungous Ground Sloth, butterflies and awesome insects. A complete educational must for kids and adults. The staff were friendly and enthusiastic. My photos don't do justice to be honest. There's also a cafe and toilet facilities.

What a museum. Was spotless, well set out and organised. Staff were 1st class and helpful . Cafe, gift shop and toilet facilities. We were in there for an hour and a half. Cafe was average priced for Cambridge. Free entry. What wasn't there to love. You must visit. Well done University museum 👏🏼

Although the attractive weirdness of these creatures makes me excited about the variety of life, I also find it very bizarre to keep them on display like this… hello strangers…

Natural history museums display and store preserved animals in such a way that they, at first glance, appear to be living, but in reality they are lifeless and fixed in position. When these specimens are photographed, their stillness becomes further frozen in time.

It’s been an amazing experience helping to curate the Butterflies Through Time exhibition alongside the brilliant team.

The exhibition features butterflies from the museum’s storeroom and highlights how the collection is being used to guide contemporary conservation.

Absolutely excellent museum, really a must see if you are in Cambridge; fascinating collection of creatures large, small, extinct & extant covering a vast range of life on earth.

Free entry, but well worth a donation. Cafe was closed when we arrived (3pm Monday)

Wow! An amazing place to see some splendid specimens well-preserved with annotations, descriptions and details. There's no need to book in advance and you can spend as much time as you want looking at the items on display. A real gem to go see in Cambridge
