Fantastic exhibitions here, was not what we were expecting at all but that made it all the better. They had old games consoles which you could use which brought back many a memory. Great for all ages and quite a bit to see. Spent around 2 hours here.

The place is a real joy to visit, you van travel through multiple generations of history and view the beautiful recreation of a local alley, or look at stuffed creatures from the time and as you go further you will advance through time until you reach a gaming museum, from early consoles to even having the Nintendo Wii...

There is a good looking cafe on the way in although I did not enter on my trip.

Absolutely great museum! Really nicely done out, lots of hands-on and fun stuff for children and interesting displays for adults too. We loved the arcade bit and the outside games plus the fish bit. Great to see a museum being truly family friendly and my autistic son loved the little chillout area, for people who needed it - what an amazing idea. Lovely little coffee shop too with the best coffee we had all holiday. Very friendly staff.

What an amazing place. So much to see, lots of interactive activities to keep children occupied while parents read the history behind the exhibits. The recreation of a Great Yarmouth 'Row' was fascinating, with so much attention to detail. The smell of herrings pervades the smokehouse area, with opportunities for dressing up and being part of it. The final exhibition of electronic games through the years was a little incongruous, but nonetheless really interesting. I enjoyed reliving my youth with a game of Space Invaders. So much thought has gone into this exhibition to ensure everyone can enjoy it. There is even a small break out area for those who need time out. A mention must go to the staff, too, who were friendly, helpful and enthusiastic.

Nice place to visit, but not going to lie - the retro gaming exhibition was the bit that caught my interest!

Staff were nice and friendly and there is sort of a route to follow round the museum (as opposed to one where you go where ever you like!)

There was a few hands on type things for the little people (a fishing game / sailing a fishing ship / fancy dress etc.)

On the way out (or in!) there is also a little gift shop and also a cafe.

If you pop to the museum at the moment there is a retro gaming exhibition with some packman, sonic and Mario games to play - along with some old school consoles to reminise at!

Well worth a visit. The museum includes an engaging reconstruction of a 1913 street in Great Yarmouth, plenty of background to the herring industry including smoking stacks, fishing boats, and more. When we visited there was also a retro gaming exhibit with playable arcade games. Overall a great balance of education and enjoyment. Budget about 90 minutes for a light visit, or 3 hours if you want to read every poster.

Very friendly staff that welcomed us as well as very helpful. The museum was one of the best parts of my holiday in Great Yarmouth, couldn’t recommend it enough. Historic and fascinating and love the way everything was presented especially the rows and the walk in sections with mannequins. Unfortunately didn’t have enough time to look through the second part properly but had a good look at the retro games which was very cool along with how it was set up. One of the best museums Ive been to and wont forget it.
