Very interesting tour with audio guide in with the ticket price. And you can pay a bit more so you can visit the old geol(jail) nearby as well.

We had bought a joint ticket and visited The Old Courthouse along with Beaumaris Gaol. Very informative visit, we had learnt and enjoyed both places a lot.

An interesting building showing how the court system ran in the days that Lords and dukes were judges. Showing the range of reasons you could face jail in the 1800's .

Spent an interesting hour in this small museum just across the road from the castle. Paid a small entrance fee - the man at the desk was very friendly and informative - then followed a one way system around the exhibitions. The building is more than 400 years old with a lovely timbered ceiling, creaky wooden staircases and loads of atmosphere. The courtroom is set out to look exactly as it was and there's lots of interesting reading about highwaymen and witches, how the justice system was run in past centuries and the brutal punishments meted out for often trivial offences. Short films with dramatised reconstructions bring historic court cases to life, and there are interactive displays upstairs. Toilets are downstairs and there's a small gift shop at the entrance. Well worth a visit.
