Some places currently being renovated. The city history on the video was quite educative.

It was small museum in city centre of Cardiff with some facilities for kids and discovery for children. Very friendly staff and warm atmosphere. It was friendly place for children.
Great 👍.
The Museum of Cardiff explores the city’s story and heritage, telling the history of Cardiff through the eyes of those who created the city its people.

The Museum of Cardiff is a great starting point for any visit to Cardiff, and gives an introduction to the city’s history through engaging, interactive displays. It uses the stories of the people who have lived and worked in the city over past centuries to bring history to life.

We really enjoyed our visit to the Cardiff Story Museum today. It’s great that this is free to visit. It was interesting to learn about Cardiff’s history and the tiled corridor was stunning. There’s some great exhibits and activities for children. The townhouse with the different lit-up rooms, build your own Cardiff and the toy trains downstairs were enjoyed! The staff are friendly and welcoming and gave us an activity sheet we could complete together as we went around. If you’re in town, this is worth a visit.

An award-winning museum in the heart of the city.
The Cardiff museum tells the story of Cardiff through the words and objects of its citizens. The history of Cardiff from the world's first record shop through migration stories and social justice campaigns. There are events for toddlers- look for Dinky Dragons adverts as well as other events. You can also visit the beautiful tiled corridor restored with money from the lottery.
The Museum has won many awards since its establishment a little over a decade ago. Sadly the temporary exhibition space was taken away and no cafe but it is fully accessible with accessible toilets. It's free to all.

Please enjoy it now as Cardiff city council seem to be planning on closing it. So if it's gone you may not see a museum of Cardiff for a generation.

Wonderful place to go to in between shopping in the city centre or for a longer visit. The kids loved the activities and so interesting to learn about the history of Cardiff. Beautiful building and the exhibits suit the place perfectly. Would have been nice for there to be a cafe or shop!
Caroline took us around the exhibitions and was very knowledgeable.

A must for both visitors and residents!.... Amazing to learn so much about the history of Cardiff. The children were not bored one bit and enjoyed more that the adults! Staff were all very helpful and enthusiastic which rubbed off on the kids. Look forward to coming back and finding out more -particularly with the discovery of the caerau hillfort which was the first settlement in cardiff around 6,000 years ago.
