Have been volunteering down at the Firing line for near 6 weeks now and you could not find a nicer staff anywhere. The museum is full of hidden gems, and I highly recommend volunteering if you're interested in museums

Lovely surroundings and knowledgeable staff. A nice few hours out if sunny.

Surprisingly well done wee museum with very knowledgeable and loyal staff. Going in at the start, I was expecting a little museum with lots of information posted on the walls with pictures and maybe a film or two. Instead, we found displays with lots of interesting things and information from the Napoleonic Period up to the present.

They have an incident room with alternating exhibits from weapons, uniforms, instruments, masks, etc. On our visit it was helmets and armour from the early middle ages to present. Very interesting and informative with samples of the different helmets you can hold and try on! I was surprised how heavy the archer’s helmets were in the 1400s and how light the real Pith helmets were. The modern helmets were originally modelled after the archer’s helmet.

There were so many things to see and learn about that we we a bit sad that we saved the Firing Line for last. Probably, it would be better to visit first or after a wee afternoon tea. You can easily view the Roman Wall and huge wood carving at the same time.

Very expensive places to visit for family. We paid up £40 to visit museum and Castle but it was not very excited for children. The museum was small but it has many things to visit and more information to let you know about this museum. Castle was very hard for children to see everywhere and my children didn't like it. However for every one to come and visit Cardiff I think should be visit this famous and old place.

Included as part of the entrance to the castle. A great little museum with special stuff for kids to do during school holidays.
