Ok, so it's awhile since I've visited HMV because we don't have one locally. So a bit of a rare treat for me. I'm old school, I prefer to have a physical cd rather than downloading. So I was a bit disappointed to find the cd section has been scaled back in favour of dvd/blu-Ray and merch (t shirts, toys etc). I used to go and come away with 5 or 6 cds but this time just the 1. Don't get me wrong, they have all the chart stuff and such like but older and more 'unusual/eclectic' not so much. So yeah, bit disappointed the music side has been reduced. Sign of the times I suppose. People like to stream, which I'm guilty of as well but If I hear something I like, I go out and buy it. Then at least I know the artist is getting their fair cut. Plus if the great and powerful Internet ever becomes sentient and decides its had enough of humans and cat pictures and buggers off to alpha centuri, I'll have a room full of cds to listen to while I watch all the streamers wandering around in silence. So doubtless I'll be visiting HMV again when I happen across one.

It's a real sign of the times that the place I used to buy CDs from 20-years ago now sells more books than music. There's a good selection of books, posters, tee shirts, DVDs and speakers but I wouldn't bother shopping if you want music; In 5 years time nothing physical will ever be sold.

Honestly, the layout is just all over the place. Trying to find 4k Blu-ray really is tough. Not clearly marked, sometimes mixed in sometimes not.
Was looking for a music dvd, gave up, Amazon is much easier.

Good choice of films, reasonably priced. Very good selection of music. Always a good atmosphere here as though everyone is as entertained as me.

The one thing we wanted which was Pink Floyd tshirts unfortunately they didn't have. But a great place to get music from! Staff were nice.

Visited last Saturday 7th January. Not too busy and bought a dvd and the vinyl of Jamie Cullum's "The Pianoman At Christmas " - an excellent and surprising selection of Christmas songs with all the new ones written by Jamie C ,what a talented chap!
