Having been though a nightmare backwards and forwards then getting fed up and just taking an electric guitar back from a large chain store that was kinda forced onto me in the shop I had given up hope for me going the electric. Thought I'd just call into my local shop as a last hope and so glad I did. He was so helpful and didn't try to get me to buy everything that was so expensive. He set me up on one of his deals for new guitarists and let me try it out on my own and to see if I liked the amp. What a deal and what a nice guy.

Called in for a guitar stand and asked for advice on starting out, he was very helpful and did not try to sell me things I did not need.

Full Disclosure - I try where I can to shop local - I am not biased, if I can get better for less online then I will go for that like everyone else especially in these challenging times - but I am happy to at least try local first and I am so glad I did.

Had an hour so to kill whilst waiting for something else in Burnley, remembered I needed some guitar strings & remembered visiting a shop just outside the town centre (with much better parking lol) years and years ago so thought I would go exploring.

As the late great Gary Moore once said "I could write paragraphs", but I'll just say that everything about Pro Solo Music exceeded my high expectations, one of the best music shops I have seen in 35 years of playing and window shopping - actually reminded my of my first exciting visit to a music shop as a teen wishing I could be James Hetfield.

Ended up having a lovely chat with the Paul (owner) who couldn't have been any more polite and helpful. Felt like a very friendly place to be - I was there 20 mins or so and witnessed several regular customers just call by to say hello and check in.

There is sometimes a bit of a 'thing' in some music shops that can make them feel intimidating - especially to inexperienced players and non-regulars Pro Solo was the polar opposite. No annoying show offs that usually visit the same time each week to show you how many notes per second they can play now whilst testing each amp to see which will go the loudest!

No walls full of £3850 custom guitars and no pointless mountain of guitar amps that you'll need to hire a van just to carry it home, just a decent range and sensible stock of items that suit most players and more importantly that he is confident in and proud to sell & support.

Paul had no way of knowing how passionate I am (from personal experience) about mental health awareness generally, or that I work with local grass roots charities trying to promote the benefits of music for mindfulness and wellbeing.

The cold truth is that most businesses don't care about people only numbers and sadly staff are often trained that way in large companies to optimise profits at any cost. Paul clearly cares and backs that up with real action like providing relief from loneliness and isolation & offering to provide help and support to our project without hesitation.

Many Thanks
