Awful place, they have too many great instruments, accessories and more for you to choose from. And the informative and helpful but not pushy at all sales assistants are there whenever you need them! How dare they!

Seriously though lovely staff, great selection, and great pricing and finance deals. 100% recommend

Thank you Damien for taking time to guide me through my decision - wanting to learn to play the piano at 60 is a daunting challenge, to even walk into a music store, but I was put at ease straight away, no hard sell to someone with no knowledge, just a professional service from start to finish - taking my electric piano home with a backwards glance at the next level of piano I vowed to come back for once I could master the basics. Great store, excellent staff.

Helpful staff, great service, nothing is too much trouble. Purchased an electronic drum kit without any issues whatsoever for my eldest son. Will be back for an electric guitar for my youngest son. Staff have excellent knowledge of instruments and accessories !

The staff here are very presumptuous, rude and judgemental. Went in there with my husband looking to buy a keyboard for our son, thinking they would be able to help but guy told us to ‘Go to Argos’ as we would ‘find something within our budget there’. He didn’t know what our budget was, didn’t take the time to ask why we were thinking of getting the keyboard or even show us anything apart from ‘the cheapest package they had’. We were in the shop all of 5 minutes and we made to feel like we didn’t belong there and that our son didn’t deserve an instrument from that shop because ‘music teachers don’t work with children under 4 years old’. The sales guy discriminated against us on so many levels and I have never been so upset. Never did we expect all that to come from ‘please can you help us decide which keyboard to get for our son’. The worst thing isn’t that he decided we could afford anything in the shop but that he discriminated against my innocent son because without knowing him or his abilities he decided ‘they didn’t have a keyboard for him’. Why would anyone presume to know anything about my family just by looking at us? Previously I have bought a guitar Dawsons, and although I live the guitar if I could take it back I would. I actually feel devastate that I gave my money to them. I will never return there and will encourage other people to find a shop will treat them with dignity and respect. One star is too generous for this place.

Damsons is a good local music shop with a great selection on offer. Staff are very helpful and friendly. The only downside is its location and getting into and out of Chester can be difficult! However it is worth the effort! Support your local music shops!!

Nothing was to much trouble for them and I was able to get exactly what I wanted. I am disabled and assistant called Mathew Y even carried new amp to my car for me.
Have bought a few things online from them but this was first visit to shop, very impressed.

Really lovely staff, with years of music knowledge and play them selves at a great standard. A great customer service experience with no pushy sales, just great, honest advise, highly recommended and very competitive prices.

Dropped off my teenage son (a guitarist) and his mate (a budding guitarist) to Dawsons Chester at the weekend for them to look at guitars with a view to upgrading and buying, respectively. On pick-up informed visit was spoilt by poor attitude from staff member who thought it necessary to humilitate and belittle budding guitarist with sarcastic comments when budding guitarist asked to try a relatively expensive guitar that was hanging on the wall, who made the mistake of pointing it out as the 'red one' (the only red one) instead of referring to it by the make, model and damn near the serial number. Budding guitarist then too ashamed to ask to try another guitar and spent the rest of the visit listening to my lad strum a demo guitar. No way was my lad going to risk similar humiliation and ask to try one from the wall. I see Dawsons are in financial trouble, which is a great shame, and I fear that unless they sort out their staff recruitment they will lose the Chester shop as well, hastened by unpleasant staff driving customers away. Budding guitarist will not now shop there again, nor will my lad, and they are talking about buying on line. Budding guitarist is employed and can afford a decent guitar, and I had my credit card ready for my lad. These two young musicians (15 and 17 years old) are the future for music shops and Dawsons have just lost them both - surely the first rule of retail is don't humiliate the customer at the first opportunity you get.
