That was brought to a sudden end today by an assistant that was very dismissive over my query for the availability of flat wound strings for a Blackstar carry on bass.
Told it was basically not a proper bass and maybe put ordinary bass string on and cut them down, really.
His attitude turned even more dismissive when I told him a short bass is more in keeping as my wife and I play in ukulele groups.
Never mind, their loss, plenty of other company’s around that like to sell stuff.
Store well laid out and given plenty of time to browse. Staff very friendly and knowledgeable. Very pleasant shopping experience

Myself and 3 follow band members…
Myself and 3 follow band members travelled up for Cornwall the Cardiff branch on the 13th December 2022 to celebrate my 50th birthday, we choose PMT Cardiff as it was the best stocked pmt closest to our home location( well according to the pmt website it was)
It turns out that half the items we were interested in purchasing were not actually in stock at all!!
And when the drummer of our band asked if he could browse the drum department downstairs he was simply told, sorry you can’t as we don’t have enough staff on. After a few minutes he noticed that 3 members of staff were just still around behind the till area so asked again could he please have a look a the drum department As he had travelled from Cornwall to wales with the rest of the band and was hoping to make a sizeable purchase, this time he was allowed down to the drum department but was shocked to see that there was very little stock down there plus the drum department bared very little resemblance to what is shown in the pmt show reel for Cardiff store(false advertising??)
The two guitarist and myself ( bassist did get to demo a couple of instruments but the attitude from the staff toward us was pretty awful in fact it felt like they really couldn’t give a dam wether we bought anything or not so after that we simply left fed up that we had travelled a long way to visit the so called flag ship pmt store only to find poor customer service and lack of advertised stock products actually out of stock.
We head back home but stopped off in Manson guitars Exeter where we were greeted by friendly helpful member of staff who went out their way to accommodate us and therefore we parted with around £3000.00 that was originally going to be spent in PMT Cardiff on new instruments and band kit.
Obviously PMT Cardiff don’t need the cash!!
So to sum up this review, don’t believe what the website says about stock levels as they aren’t accurate and PMT train your staff to give a dam as I’m sure you can ill afford to loose 3k in the space of an hour
