I visited the shop recently to browse the piano's and was thrilled that Roger (the shopkeeper) let me play one. Of course he asked if I could play and I said yes, just to confirm I told him I managed to get to grade 6.
After having a 10 minute tinkle of playing a song I had written, I was shocked when Roger came out and said -
"I wouldn't exactly call yourself a pianist" with laughter behind his voice. It was appalling behaviour on his part, belittling one of his customers in such a manner I will not return there again. I would advice buying a piano elsewhere, if you, like me, would not like to be judged on what Roger likes and doesn't like.

A few months ago I went to the Music Station to look for a new classical guitar. The staff were pretty friendly and helpful at first, so I left the shop with a new budget guitar - Yamaha C40. When I got home I realised there was some strange buzzing on the E string, for instance when playing the E chord. In order to stop it I had to press my finger really hard, right next to the fret. Anything less would result in the guitar buzzing. I didn't like that, so went back to have it checked. This time the service wasn't as friendly. The guy seem to think that it was my technique rather than the guitar. Having little experience buying new guitars, I allowed him to convince me that it wasn't the guitar but me that was at fault. Still, he replaced it with another Yamaha C40. I went home and soon noticed that the replacement was buzzing just as badly as the first one. This seemed to confirm the theory that it's my bad playing that causes it. Luckily, there was part of me that didn't believe it to be true (at least not entirely).

Because of his unfriendliness on my second visit, I felt reluctant going back to the shop. I even considered making some modifications to the guitar to fix it, rather than taking it back. I didn't want to be shamed again. In the end I decided to ask for the refund. I just wasn't happy with the product.

As expected, the guy was clearly annoyed with me, saying "There's nothing wrong with the guitar". It felt awful. Straight after I went to another music shop in town and got a different guitar (I was happy to pay that extra £80 to get the guitar I actually liked). I've been playing on it for a good few months - the sound is amazing and there's no buzzing, even though my technique hasn't really changed.

I'm giving 1 star cause the staff just wanted to get rid of the bad product, making me feel back for wanting to bring it back (and claiming it was my fault, where it actually wasn't). It was a terrible experience.

Fair enough, they are not guitar specialist, but that kind of customer service is not acceptable, whether you come to buy a cheap £100 guitar and £5000 piano.

We telephoned to discuss an electric piano to replace a mechanical model and we spoke to Aled. We had no real knowledge of what was available so he talked us through the options. We trusted his advice and made a choice. However, he refused to sell it to us until he’d spoken to my wife and reassured himself that it would be the correct instrument for her. When he was happy that it would be, we paid a deposit and the team delivered it a week later. Nothing was too much trouble for them and Aled carried out an excellent handover which we thoroughly enjoyed. The instrument is as good as the service; fabulous.

I'm sure the staff are very capable and the shop is OK, but unfortunately I didn't get to find out having completed a 12 mile round trip to get there to find the shop closed. This was on a normal weekday at 3.30pm when the shop is supposed to be open until 5.30pm. May well have been due to an emergency but I would recommend calling first if planning a visit, particularly if travelling far.

Just upgraded to the Yamaha dgx670 keyboard. Its absolutely fantastic as was the service from Aled, who is so helpful and is such an accomplished pianist. He took a lot of time explaining all the features and demonstrating them. I visited the store around lunchtime and by teatime, Aled had delivered and set up the new keyboard. I cannot fault the service
