Chilbolton Cow Common SSSI

Lovely place to come for walks and nature. Excellent walks across the river into wherwell passing long bridges and and nice landscapes. The river test has to be one of englands crystal clear rivers and the coldest!! Popular for swimming in the summer and one of the best wild swimming places in the region. Walk north along the river to the more remote parts you have a chance to glimpse an otter!

Many childhood memories, the common hasn't change hardly at all, which is a good thing. Far more popular today than it once was, but still a wonderful place to visit.

Great place! Not only do they require one to clean up one's dog poo (👍) but they also provide plastic bags and bins. Well done the local CC...wish I could say the same about Surrey CC on Chobham Common where they insist one cleans up one's dog poo - good idea - but have recently even taken away all the bins that used to be there...anyway, I am veering wildly off subject. A lovely common with better parking to the South. To the North a lovely wooden bridge across the river. Cows wandering freely...a great place from which to start walks in the area.

Great for dog walking, plus lots of young families come here as the river is shallow and great for paddling.

There are also lots of cows here, so no ironic location naming going on here.

Lovely place to walk combined with a circular walk along the river and finishing at the Abbot's Mitre in Chilbolton; a great pub serving super meals.

Love love love this place for walks with my dog and family. Definitely one of my favourites and you can extend it on to West down nature reserve and beyond.

Great place to visit. Kids loved the water as much as the dog. The stampede of cows was quite a sight to see!
