One of my favourite places. The hide is a great place to see Nightingales and the wood has breeding Goshawk. A great place for families and Dog walkers. White Admiral Butterflies can be seen in late Spring early Summer and Deer visit the pond to drink. A perfect place to spend a long Summers day.

A nice easily accessible place for a woodland walk. Clearly a place for bird spotters. Quute close to the main road so not perfectly peaceful but i got used to the slight back ground noise very quickly, the birds drowned it out!

Lovely woods very muddy at the moment but Lovely to walk around. May is my favourite when the nightingales sing all night its amazing and we need to make the most of them because if they build 5000+ houses opposite Highnam woods the nightingales will not come back!

Lovely place to walk but the gate are never unlocked. If they are not prepared to come and open them, why not permanently keep them unlocked?

As a visitor to the area we were looking forward to an evening walk around the woods, had to park in lay-by on A40 then walk to entrance. Found the paths very rutted, slippery & hard going. Spent my time watching where I was going so couldnt enjoy the landscape or spotting any birds. Sadly didnt enjoy the experience. There was a dog waste bin but many hadnt bothered cleaning up! If the paths were maintained & had wood chip on them it would have been so much better

Fairly large mixed woodland with some ancient areas and a surprise giant sequoia! Lots of wildlife and some beautiful wildflowers. Was so peaceful....didn't see anyone else at all! Bliss!

Gorgeous woodland featuring a hide.

Parking problematic as the car park seems to only be open on weekends (?).
We parked in a (frankly disgusting) lay-by/bus stop - marked with a parking “P” sign - on the main road and walked up. This would of been fine, but we had our 3 year old with us, and therefore had to carry him due to the very narrow path and speed of the road.

Website says the reserve is open. Outside weekends the car park is closed, however. I pulled off the busy A40 and had to reverse back onto the main road. Not knowing the area I did not know where to park so didn't stay. A waste of a trip.
