Buckthorne Cutting Nature Reserve

Walking toward the bridge today I was delighted to see the amazing progress of this reserve. The dedicated hard work here is absolutely praiseworthy.
I thoroughly enjoy watching the progress!

TARDIS of a natural reserve next to the railway line.

It’s not often you get to look around this nature reserve along the London Overground / Southern / South Eastern railway sidings between Brockley and Honor oak park stations. The conservationist volunteers are doing a great job in trying to save our dwindling green spaces and wildlife sanctuaries in the capital. There is even an ancient woods that the Trust is hoping to buy back from developers and too put firmly in the hands of the local people to, if they are lucky, send their children to as part of their education. Worth a visit on one of its open days or fundraisers.

Why is this lovely space only open 4 times a year? I can't imagine unlocking and relocking the gate like any park, as too onerous

Or is there a self interest going on ? Odd 🤔
