Wonderful park that has been and is looked after very well. The walks and paths are easily signposted with 'landmarks' spread around the routes.

Perfect for a walk/picnic

Love our walks in the woods and the maze of tracks all around the land. There's no toilets or anything, but it's free parking and there have been lots of improvements made to the car park and the trails recently (May 2022). Lots of dogs and dog walkers, all very friendly - extremely clean and well maintained too. Bins by the car park. It is easy to get lost if you don't know your way around, so take a photo of the map at the top of the hill by the car park. Try and find the bamboo tunnel, the stone snake, the hidden beach, the wicker people and the totem seat. There's quite a few things to discover!

Peaceful place, nice walks around here, lovely piece of nature. Plenty of options for a walk, I especially love the river close by.

Beautiful walk. Loads of different terrains. Great for dog walking :-) There are also lots of benches for regular breaks.

What a hidden gem. Peaceful walking. Some inclines. Well maintained fre car park by The Woodland Trust. Three walks 30 muns. 60 mins and 90 mins. Large field for children and dogs. Young trees planted. Plenty of Oaks. Walking boots or trainers sufficient

Lovely area to walk around. We parked in the free car park just off South Road. We done the circular walk and enjoyed getting down to the river. There was some litter in this area, looks like folk go there to enjoy a few tinnies and leave the leftovers. It was also a shame to see graffiti regarding covid-19 plastered on benches and other parts but not everyone can be trusted not to deface such a little gem of an area. That aside really enjoyed our walk. The car park had easy access and a bin for dog waste, I would personally take human rubbish home as I did see someone put a MacD's bag in there filling the "dog" bin up 🤦‍♀️ can be steep in areas and can imagine it gets muddy but we picked a great day for a visit. Although plenty of cars still room to comfortably walk around and not feel crowded. I would come back here as on the whole it's a lovely little walk.

The dog loved it. The Wicker Man sculpture was impressive. Quite liked the various stone circles but the artwork on them was a disappointment to say the least. Went in search of the Wicker Woman & Chickens but sadly failed probably due to a complete lack of signage. On the plus side, found the Ferryhill Angling Club stretch of the river.
