This is an ancient wood on a steep chalk slope, which had a very narrow escape from a psychopathic local farmer who tried to destroy it in defiance of the law. The trees he had felled are now a fertile source of interesting invertebrates and fungi.

Hard to get to (or even figure out how to get to), no signs, no parking, through farmers' land (who dont want you to be there), single route which leads to more farmers land - spent all of about 5mins actually in the woods. Not worth it.
