A true delight! A wonderful place to visit during springtime. There is great view of Ely cathedral from the main sighting mound - don't miss it!

We visited Kingfishers for the first time this weekend as we live nearby and saw the signs whilst driving past. We were not disappointed.

The reserve is easy to find, it's between Stretham and Wicken. There is ample parking as well. The site manager was very polite and gave us newbies some advice about the site and what route would be best to take. There's a little cafe onsite as well.

The walks are lovely and there's lots of viewing points and hides across the site if bird watching is your hobby of choice. The walk we took went alongside the River Cam and it was just a very pleasant experience.

If you live in the East Cambridgeshire area or close by and fancy a day out in nature I'd strongly recommend a visit to Kingfishers Bridge.

Sadly the cafe was closed on both occasions we visited. Lovely picnic tables spaced out and around the nature reserve. If you bring a picnic remember to take home what you brought with you. We had lovely displays of Butterflies and Dragon flies. I could see a fleeting glance of a deer as it was running through the hedgerow in to the paddock hidden again as it was camouflage against the foliage. Lovely flocks of pheasants with their young and this was before we got to the lake in the middle. This was the first time I had come and didn't manage the whole of the walk.( only because my dog decide she wasn't going any further) 2nd time we visited we didn't see much but I was with a group of people that obviously scared the animals away :-) . There was a lovely sight to see a Buzzard over head but he or she was being harassed by a Crow, nature at its best. I or we manage the whole walk this time. Walking on the top of the embankment. As we got to the River Cam a Swan was just taking flight, it was amazing to see. Carpark has limited spaces but I do believe there is an over flow one. The whole walk was is roughly 3.5 miles in length.. It was lovely to come and just listen to the beauty..if your children are in to tractors your will get your fill off them here.

A hidden gem..even for a lot of local people. Lovely nature reserve with meadow walks and a lake. Lots of wildlife including birds and insects plus water buffalo and konik ponies.

Real gem discovered by chance.

Passed the turning on our way to Denny Abbey & came back later. The reserve has a range of habitats & is home to some rarities (Cambridge milk parsley, water germander). A wide variety of wading birds can be seen, sand martins nest in waterside cliffs and dragonflies & harriers can be seen pursuing their prey. There are plenty of lovely places to picnic with well-spaced benches. There is also a café, although we arrived late in the day after it had shut. Will definitely be back to try it out & spend more time enjoying the wildlife. Water buffalo & Konik ponies which assist with land management are an additional attraction.
