Great for walking the dog. The bluebells in the spribg are a must see. Lovely for a nice walk with kids looking for wild life.

Beautiful ancient woodland of beach, oak, holly etc. Little streams, a few benches, amazing bluebells in late April.

The London Loop and Hillingdon Trail go past this ancient woodland nature reserve. While it was a bit of a pain to find (forget Google Maps), we'd recommend parking up at this post code: 2 Hill End Rd, Harefield, Uxbridge UB9 6LB. You then walk down the road till you come to a red dog litter bin where a long alley way, adjacent to the Hill End Allotment Site, leads towards the reserve (on the left). While the initial walk in was overgrown, once you negotiate that, the woods are beautifully dense, with a decline therein that has a lovely clear brook that's a nice place for a picnic. Worth the visit for sure; just be prepared for stinging nettles and some uneven pathways.

The bluebells are out. Definitely come visit in the next few weeks for one of the best spots near London

A pleasant woodland nature reserve for a stroll. Quite small so limited paths for anyone wanting a longer hike.

A blissfully beautiful wood. Come here on a hot day and you'll enjoy the shade, come here in late spring to enjoy the bluebells, come here every few weeks to see how the wood changes through the seasons. Park on Hill End Road and enjoy a circular walk through the wood, and across the field to Belfry Avenue and Park Lane, stopping at Co-op on Rickmansworth Road for an ice-cream on the way back. This is a great place for children, they love the natural playground of walking along logs, finding walking sticks, following the stream and searching out wild flowers. The wood is a truly calming place, with no road noise, just listen to the wind in the trees and saviour this wonderful corner of Middlesex.

A bit of a scruffy wood, nice to pass through on a walk but I would not see it as a destination to spend a large amount of time in. Fortunately there are plenty of footpaths in the area, including some big ones like the London Loop, the Hillingdon Trail and the Grand Union so would take it in as part of a longer walk that takes in Ruislip, Bayhurst and Bishop’s Woods as well
