Bassetlaw District Council staff delayed informing us there was a second flood to our office and then tried to claim equipment wasn’t wet but the carpet was just damp. Luckily we insisted on seeing the damage ourselves only to find the carpet and electrical equipment saturated with water (after they had been cleaning up the water) and so it is clear they tried to play it down, cover it up and were drying the office to make the problem (and liability) disappear. Outrageous conduct by council employees which would have left us with water damaged electrical equipment unsafe to use without informing us on the true extent of the water contamination.
These problems are in addition to Security problems on site which were not addressed for over a year despite constant complaints. Bassetlaw District Council allowed competitors access to our office to gain information on our business and contractors employed by Bassetlaw District Council have stolen from our office. If you are a small or new business be aware Bassetlaw District Council will undermine your business and not give a damn when they cause damage. Emails and demands for written positions and clarification never responded to.
UPDATE 16 SEPTEMBER 2019: Bassetlaw District Council Chief Executive Neil Taylor in a formal response has ignored aspects of the complaint (threats of eviction when complaining, lies by council employees and refusal to escalate a complaint) and further considers a 5 hour delay in informing a business their office had been flooded and has completely overlooked initial attempts to ‘cover up’ the extent of water damage, and claims (in a formal response) that his staff acted “acted quickly and professionally”. This matter can be discussed on youtube along with video evidence and a copy of the formal response from if Bassetlaw District Council if they wish to 'close ranks' on this matter….
Does Bassetlaw District Council wish to respond here in the public domain before further public disclosure? Apparently discovering water damage to an office and not informing the occupants for several hours (but emailing everyone else that toilets were out of order and posting out of order signs (which is clearly more important) whilst electrical equipment sat in water plugged into the mains electrical supply is considered by the Chief Executive officer of Bassetlaw District Council as acting "quickly and professionally". Council staff then claiming in emails (to be uploaded to youtube with video) that they informed us immediately and did not play down the extent of the damage (in a call recorded on the office video staff said that equipment wasn't wet and we didn't need to attend). In emails council staff then claimed they told us our equipment was wet and that we needed to attend. Neil Taylor - do you really consider this professional? Maybe Bassetlaw District Council need to re-evaluate the quality and competence of its staff and senior management.
